my bridal shop i bought my dress at put a $200 cap on alterations..so it wont cost most than that..and i know for sure its gonna have to be altered length wise & that costs $150..so im expecting to pay somewhere btw 150-200..

Re: average cost of alterations?

When we bought my dress we had two options - price 1 was just to get the dress, price 2 was the dress PLUS unlimited alterations and it was just $200 more. We went with option 2 because I've heard horror stories of people paying $500-800 for simple alterations and didn't want to deal with that. Also, I wanted a french bustle which usually costs more money because it's per point.

In the end my dress needed very little alteration wise - just a nip in the bust, hemming, and bustle, but the peace of mind of not having to pay separately for alterations was the best.

If you just need a few things done I'd say about $200 would be about average.

I had my bust taken in, a hem and a regular bustle, nothing too crazy and it was around $80 at Burton's. Love that place!

Wedding Atelier charges $450 cap. Really steep! But my dress has so much beading and lace and I don't want anyone to mess it up, plus I am very petite so lots of alterations will be needed, so I appreciate the cap because hems will need to be changed, bra added, etc. At least it is not as much as Kleinfelds!

Did any of you have the alterations at Bridal Reflections? That's where I'm scheduled... I'll have to call and ask their price, I didn't realize it varies so much...

Re: average cost of alterations?

SO, I called Bridal Reflections and they said they have a $395 cap on alterations...

Anyone know places with lower caps? What's Burton's? I thought that was a florist...

Re: average cost of alterations?

Remember that most places don't include the price of the bustle in your alterations cap. I was surprised when my alteration total came out to almost 50% of the cost of my dress. A lot of it was due to the fancy bustle that I had done.

My alterations were capped at $350 and the bustle was $150.

... tho I'll probably just suck it up and go with Bridal Reflections... seems like they're within the normal price window, and I think they're the only ones in NY who deal with St. Pucchi dresses...

Same questions as above... where and is that a price just for people who got their dresses there?

TIA..

Re: average cost of alterations?

I am getting my dress from Fantasia Bridal. They capped the alterations at $200 but there is an additional fee of $10 for each bustle point we add...so technically it could be $220 (if I had two bustle points added)
