i think its about average - Not including HM...

Reception Hall and time of year play a major fact in determining numbers... RH have a set $ amount they want to reach for a specific time and month.. i was a Sunday night wedding in the summer and not much savings here!! my min was 150 but if it was higher my price person would have been much less... at the end of the day the grand total would have been roughly the same.. as far as the # of centerpieces, favors, invites, tips and any other per person type of decor then the more people you have the more $$..
JMO from what i noticed thru the planning process..

i wasnt including my e-ring or honeymoon and we are still defintiley over 38 - if included my ering & HM forget it, it would make the cost jump to almost 100

i thought if we stayed under 60K we were doing good.....but we're slowly creeping up to that number i hope we dont hit 60K - YIKES!

We are in the same boat. When all is said and done we are looking at close to 60k. Which is just obsurddddddddd
My RH is costing us what the average cost of the entire wedding should be lol And the band we're having is costing us half of the RH costs (but thats FHs faulttt) I keep telling him that too lol

I want to cry..... I whish my wedding was that. I feel really sick now bc I thought we were paying the average but we are alot higher........ and here I was thinking we were getting everything at a good price...

I have to say that for me, that is pretty crazy. I am spending less than that. I am finding ways to cut costs and we are having a smaller wedding than most. We could never afford that amount! So, it's true that it depends on what you want and what you are able to afford. It's your day so I would say hey, if you can afford that and want to spend it, go for it and enjoy it. I feel a little better now about what I am spending!

Remember this is average... so I'm assuming that it includes people who have backyard weddings or very small cake and champagne receptions in addition to the lavish receptions common on LI. Also, if it's NY generally it also includes upstate which I'd assume is much cheaper. My friend lives upstate and her rent is $130/month.

I'm pretty sure the quote doesn't include rings or honeymoon - if it did, it would be a significant jump......

We're a Sunday afternoon August wedding and the costs still add up, especially when you have 200+ guests

i think its the same either way...if you have less guests you pay less so you'll still have the same chances...but i have seen that most couples dont make the money back, definitely not for the whole wedding maybe for the RH but thats about it and most dont even make back the rh money. Im just going in with no expectations.

I totally agree with you. I don't think you ever recover what you spent and I don't expect to. I'm inviting people I want to share my special day with me and don't really care if I make it back or not.

im glad to see that im not the only one that i thought the average would be around 45-50
---- it all depends on what you want... you can cut your costs a lot by having lets say fri night wedding or sunday afternoon rather than saturday... low centerpieces vs high ones...
DIY invitations, rather than ordering them.

can someone please agree with me, that it all depends on what you want.. THanks :)

(im starting to feel bad about all the money)

omg i totally agree.....my cost is the hall alone is more than that

i knowww.. if you have 200 ppl with lets say 150 a head that alone is.............. 30k. jeeezzzz

eeek I know..ours is costing at least double the 'average' of $38,000. Our RH is ALOT more than $38,000...we have over 250ppl and are paying a lot pp. but, in all fairness, we picked the date, venue, guest list, etc, so we knew what we were getting into.

Im, give or take, 30k for my RH alone!!! And FH and I wanted a winter wedding from the start! LOVE christmas decorations and stuff!!! and a friday night was totally doable for us! 250 people (big italian families both sides!) Im praying to stay under 60k...dont know where the moneys gonna come from!!
