We give $300 as a couple to ANY wedding we go to - to me it doesn't matter if you are getting married at Oheka Castle or if you are having a backyard bbq wedding. It is what we can afford and don't feel as if gifts should be based on where the wedding is taking place.

I agree. I was starting to think I was the only one who felt this way. If someone has a wedding that's $300 a plate I dont think someone should go broke to pay for their plate.

Average wedding gift amount??

I think it's whatever you feel comfortable with. If you end up covering your plate, that's a bonus for the couple. I recently gave a close friend who got married on a farm in New Hampshire $150 from just myself (FH didn't go). On the other hand, FH and I just attended my cousin's wedding at Russo's on the Bay and we gave $150 from both of us. We never ever talk to them and don't have the greatest relationship.

Average wedding gift amount??

We start at 250, if the person is close to us we go up. We've been to weddings recently where we barely knew the person and they got 250. For FH's best friends wedding we gave way more. I guess it all depends on who is getting married!
