Average wedding gift amount??

What's the average going rate for guests who attend a wedding? It's a Saturday night wedding at East Wind. I haven't been a guest at a wedding recently. It's an old friend who's getting married. TIA

Depends how close you are to the person but usually 100-150.

We usually give $300 from fh and I. Sometimes more if a close friend or family member.

With a guest, 250 will cover your plates, give or take.

I usually give $200 for Fh and I. Unless I'm in the bridal party then I give more.

I don't think I'd go by this site. It told me to give $125 for me AND FH for a wedding where I'm a bridesmaid. That wouldn't even cover one plate.

I think thats because it accounts for the fact that as a wedding party member you do spend a significant amount more on the entire thing with the shower and with the bachelorette party.

I tend to always start my wedding gift from FH and I at a base of $200 and go up from there.. depending on who it is... when it is, where it is... etc.

I agree. It told me to give $175 from FH and myself for a wedding of a very close friend.

Depending on the relationship and size/caliber of the wedding. I hate to say it- but my FH's stepsister who we are not very close to, got married at a VFW. So i believe we gave $150 for the both of us. But if it were a closer friend at a bigger venue, we would prob have doubled that easily.

We give $300 as a couple to ANY wedding we go to - to me it doesn't matter if you are getting married at Oheka Castle or if you are having a backyard bbq wedding. It is what we can afford and don't feel as if gifts should be based on where the wedding is taking place.
