Avg band costs?

I saw NYC Swing's Dreamteam last night, and absolutely loved them! For my event, they said it's $1250 per musician. Does this seem like a lot, relative to other bands? It's only the second band I've seen - and I didn't costs from the first, so I'm not sure what average prices are for my time of year (October, Saturday Night).

Also, if anyone has reviews on Dreamteam, I'd appreciate that as well! So far, I could only find one on here.

My band is 9 pieces. We're paying approximately $800 per person.

Generally average is $1000 a person. I have an 8 piece band that is running about that.

Avg cost is about $8,000.

The higher end bands such as:

NYC Swing
The Original Faze 4
Soul Street

cost more. I must have seen a dozen bands between going to showcases and hearing them play at friends weddings. The three above start above $10,000.

Average priced bands are:

Renegade
The Touch
The Mystic
Time Square
Heart & Soul

I don't know their band prices... but you can check out EJ the DJ for their band.. it's called Union.

They have you go to a showcase in the city. You sit at a reserved table and drinks are free all night. You get to experience the band and watch them play all sorts of different types of music. They were really good. We enjoyed the whole night actually! But ultimately it was a toss up between a band and a DJ and the DJ won. We booked with FM Entertainment.

I have a feeling they might be expensive... but the experience is well worth it. We worked with Judy and she was soooo nice!!!! I loved her!!!

That seems like a lot of money to me, our band wasn't nearly that expensive. And I don't think any that we looked at were either. It was just out of our budget. We had Soul Revival and they were great, and I thought the price was very reasonable too. FM me if you want more specifics

what night is your wedding? we booked NYC swing too...they played at FBILs wedding and they were amazing....we danced the whole night!

It depends if you're looking for a big band or small band. I worked with a small band with DJ/MC that played for the cocktail hour and 4 hr. reception and it was less than $1900. I was in luck, the band just started out and did a promotional since they were were not known in the business. $1250 per musician is def expensive. Unless they are really phenomenal and you can't find someone who can play as well as them then go with your heart. Def search around for better deals/pkg and go back to the vendor to compare price quotes.

I booked Vali Entertainment, they are located in the city, well worth every penny!!! Plus, we offered to pay cash and got quite a bit off the total.

You can get a good 8-9 piece band for 7000-8000. Tip..many will go down slightly if they are not as booked as they hoped for a given season

I am not sure what kind of band you are looking for...I hired a rock cover band I saw playing at a bar! It is WAY more my style. Also, about half the price that everyone is saying. FM me if you want more details

Always try to negotiate! I hard balled my djs and talked them down a third!
