Awkward Situation ; WWYD?

Awkward Situation ; WWYD?

Soo..this might make no sense since I am really sick and on cold medicine. but the guy from the phone company is here so I might as well post...

On Sunday at my shower (yay...will post more later when I am coherent and finally hopefully get some pics), my MIL cornered me in front of people.

She thanked me for inviting my FSIL. FSIL and I don't get along. I actually did nothing to her. I was totally there for the family last year when FFIL passed away, but after the shiva she decided she hated me and then actually made her husband and her friends de-friend me (but not FH) on facebook. This was after a whole thing where she totally unprompted pulled my mom aside during shiva and told my mom she has no problem with me, the also introduced herself to my frineds and family as 'the bi+ch sister', and she goaded some rabbi who was saying that FH marrying me was 'a travesty'. I didn't say **** it oer about any of it, but she decided to pick a fight with FH about it after I went back to work on the last day of shiva.

She also as much as said she'd make a scene at our wedding since it's Father's Day and she disaaproves of the date and she'll be on a lot of drugs.

But anyway I decided to invite her to be the bigger person and whatever..

So now at the shower she thanks me for inviting FSIL but informs me that I have to invite FSILs in laws because 'it's the right thing to do'. FSIL is 8 mos prego. She has 2 other kids, but this is the first one with her current husband. So they're saying I'm taking their grandchild away from them on their first Father's Day or something.

I'm like I was barely inviting FSIL and now you want me invite her in-laws? I'm now not sure if that means I have to invite her mother in law and father in law, but she also mentioned something out her niece watching the baby, so now she wants me to also invite her SIL and BIL and their kid? Ummm... I'm not even inviting my own family's kids. I'm not even inviting my sister's in-laws. ..

And it's like, umm..to invite them, it's $170pp, plus extra maitre'd tip, plus they're basically their own table, so that;'s another centerpiece, favors, etc. She has no idea the expense. I mean they're nice enough people...but really.

When my FSIL got married I was the photographer. I did photo, and I made albums for her and my in laws and her in laws and we bought her a lenox frame. I didn't get a thank you card, and her husband never thanked us at all.

Like, really?
ETA: I should add that my invitations have already gone out... and that FMIL is giving us money for the wedidng and lending us money on top of that

i think it's already enough that you're inviting FSIL who seems to be a lil female dog (no cursing for me ). That's too much $ to be spending on people that don't need to be there. if your FMIL really thinks they should be invited, then she can pay for them herself, otherwise, i say no!

If FMIL wants them there she can pay, although I think the girl doesn't deserve to be at your big day!

Hell with that. I wouldn't invite her family. No way, jose.

Absolutely NOT.

Helllll no!!! There is no way. You have to put your foot down, or make FH do it. Even if your FMIL pays for them, there is still the favors and centerpiece and tip, etc, like you said. NO WAY!

I wouldnt invite them I would make up some excuse about not have the money for all the extra or you already over invited and hope that so of your own family says no because there would be too many people. seriously if she is going to be a b*tch at shiva what would stop here if she had more people with her at your wedding. Hope it all works out

What?? No no no you do not need to invite her in-laws! They're lucky you're inviting the crazy sister lol. If your MIL and FSIL really want them there then tell them to fork over the money!! Good luck

Honestly, I wouldn't unless FMIL agrees to shell out the money it would take to invite them...no wonder people call me a b1tch

i wouldnt invite them. if its a big deal fsil won't come. you're inviting more drama into your day. if she makes a scene i'd have her kicked out as well.

absolutely not.

not unless FMIL wants to pay for them all.

just tell her that it's basically another $1000 that you don't have right now. if FMIL really wants them there, she'll have to foot the bill.

If I don't invite them, and that decreases the likelyhood that FSIL shows up, so much the better!

I was getting sick at the shower and I haven't been able to talk since then so I didn't get to discuss it with FH. Hopefully he agrees. We fought a lot over inviting his sister and I finally gave in.

If it was me, I would NOT invite her family. Sorry, she just needs to get over it or not come.

ugh I hate these types of sticky situations....it's easy to say no don't do it but harder to actually do.

If it were me, I would tell her that no on the basis that it's not 2 extra people its a whole table of people and you dont have the money. I would also say that if they'd rather be with their grandfather than that's more than fine and you will understand and that you're wedding is not the whole day and they can spend time with both.

If she offers to pay for all of them then I don't think you have a choice other than to invite them esp if they are loaning you money.

Sorry you have to deal with!

No way. If she doesn't want to attend, she does not have to. End of story

This! That's ridiculous!!

My father passed away the day before Father's Day last year, and I would NEVER think to say such horrible things, let alone threaten them!! Yes, it will be an extremely rough day for me, and I may drink heavily, but if it was too hard to handle, I wouldn't go to the wedding - and I sure as hell wouldn't expect my entire family to be invited!
