Re: Awkward Toasts
FH is the worst when it comes to this stuff. he starts off great an then gets sidetracked and goes on and on and on.
It wasn't a wedding, but a graduation party for his cousin. He got up and started talking and his brother and I were in tears from laughing so hard when he switched to the umpteeth topic.
I dread him talking at our wedding.

Re: Awkward Toasts
FH was his brother's BM at his weddign a few years ago and FH wanted to have fun with his toast, so he collected a bunch of keys a couple of days before the wedding and had someone give them out secretely at the beginning of the reception to some of the women there. He started his speech saying something like 'before I begin my speech I want to ask all the ladies that have keys to my brother's place to please return them at this time, because he is now offcially taken' it was actually cute and funny, the problem was that whoever gave out those keys must have been clueless because among the women who got up was an aunt, a cousin and one of his ex-girlfriends (who is a family friend, so she was invited). I thought it was so awkard to see those three women get up(and creepy! his aunt??? his cousin??? come on!). Why did they get up? I dont understand, I guess they wanted to be good sports...

My sister took all 80's songs and turned it into a speech. She thought it would be funny to say, 'hope Pete doesnt Beat It before going to the Love Shack' In my sisters mind she thought Beat It meant to leave...DH and I and our guests thought of something else.
OMG that is HILARIOUS!!!!

That is a really funny idea though!!! Should've had someone who knew the family better giving them out though!

Re: Awkward Toasts
At our rehearsal dinner, a bunch of the GM told our waitress that the Best Man wanted to make a speech… the BM was at the other end of the table so he had no idea they told her this. She announced it and everyone started cheering, so he stood up and gave the most unprepared speech ever.
Luckily at the wedding he gave an AWESOME speech.

at my E-Party my FFIL (who is NOT a good public speaker) got up to toast FH & I. During his speech he talked about how proud of FH they were and they were sweet enough to mention how they felt about me and at the end he wrapped up w/ 'And congrats to Marisa who just lost 50lbs, it was amazing that you could do that.'
I literally wanted to crawl under the table. I appreciate the fact that he was proud of me but did he HAVE to announce it to everybody????????

My uncle gave a super awkward speech at my cousin's wedding. The content wasn't bad, but he's not a public speaker! Imagine a sentence 'We have had some really good times over the years.' Now scream it like Christopher Walkin with more awkward pauses. I was hysterical.
