A friend of FH asked if he and his wife can bring there newborn baby to our wedding. She is due one month before the wedding. I am not too thrilled about it b/c i just don't think it's appropriate.
What should I do without being rude?

A friend of mine had a baby about two months before we had a wedding to go to. She asked our mutual friend if she could bring the baby and the mutual friend said it was fine.
Can i just tell you, what a disaster. She thought she would feed the baby and it would sleep. Yeah, um babys cant sleep when there is a band blasting music. The baby kept crying , she had to keep leaving and feeding it and ran out of milk and had to leave early. I realize parents dont like to leave their newborns, but its kinda selfish to bring them, its not a conducive environment for babies.
I dont understand why parents want to do that to their kids?
Thats what pisses me off and i dont get...Why are you bringing your baby to a wedding when it should be home in its crib sleeping comfortably and not having to listen to music BLASTING...it is selfish in my opinion...you drag your baby around in an environment it shouldn't be in for absolutely no reason at all. Plus at one month old, im sorry you shouldn't bring it around so many people, god forbid with germs and all these things...do you really want like 200 people in one night coming to touch your baby well maybe half of that coming up to your baby to look at it.

Re: Baby at the reception????
I am in this situation right now.
FH's cousin who is 40 just had a baby, she is 1 right now. Will be 1 1/2 at the time of our wedding, from what i heard she is a terror. His cousin also has 2 other kids, about 8 and 10. They live in florida. And they are all coming to the wedding. I am just afraid that a small child wont be quiet during our ceremony, and to me that and the toasts are very important. And i dont want them interrupted. Also our ceremony god willing will be outside, so if the child acts up where are they going to go, its outdoors.
I dont know what to do, i expressed my feelings to FMIL, but they are OOT so who would watch the child for them
My sister will have a one year old and she is not bringing the baby, No other kids will be there

Ok I know I am the minority here but this really wouldn't bother me one bit.
Yes a wedding isn't the most ideal place for a newborn child for various reasons including germs and loud music -- however it isn't your child so that is up to the parents discretion.
There is a good chance I will have a newborn (including all of the other children we have invited) at the wedding. If the parent feels comfortable bringing the baby out then so be it. In my case the mother will be breast feeding and really can't leave the baby home. I would rather have her there even if it is for a short time then not at all. I aslo offered to hire her a sitter to stay with the baby in the bridal suite if she would be more comfortable with that.

I think def put it on the invite.. Maybe tell them it would start troble with others you already told no children!
that is a really little baby for a wedding with the people and the music
i agree.. especially if hthey're local and have family nearby who can watch the baby.. that is a LOT of noise.. and A LOT of germs for a newborn..

Yeah it wasnt good my friend was miserable, she was breast feeding , the wedding was out on the island and we were staying in a hotel. She couldnt have a drink because she didnt bring enough milk. The baby was basically on the floor in the feeder seat, he didnt sleep and cried the entire time. It was just a stressful situation.

I would just tell them flat out that a wedding is not an appropriate place to bring a baby, especially a newborn. You can say it a nice way so they won't get offended. Between all the people, the music, the baby feedings, trying to get the baby to sleep, it's just not practical.

I completely agree 100% if you are a responsible parent I don't think you should bring an infant newborn to a wedding! It's not fair to the baby (not to mention healthy), and the parents should know better.

if she is breastfeeding, she will pretty much HAVE to bring the baby. You are not supposed to give a breastfeeding newborn a bottle for 1-2 months.
If you want her to attend, you should 'allow' the baby. Its a newborn. Its won't be running around & ruining anything.
I have a baby. At one month old, they do NOTHING but sleep. Seriously. It will sit there in a car seat & be unnoticeable. It won't notice the band, the people, the noise, nothing. They are like a lump of clay.
Its not that big of a deal, honestly. Don't let such a little thing stress you out.
