Baby Name Spinoff: Has anyone named a child after you (NOT your child)?

Just curious if anyone has had a child named after her deliberately. Maybe your best friend or sister or cousin liked your name so much that she gave it to your child.

Not personally but I am named after the Choir teacher who introduced my parents to eachother.

She was a german choir teacher in San Antonio called Veronika. My mother was so drugged when I was born she never fixed my name to Veronika but left it Veronica.

Odd thing is.. just a year ago I got a call from a lady (I did claims at the time) and she said 'I won't forget your name, it's like my niece' she asked why such a young person had such an old name (it is an old name not old as in age, just been around for centuries) and I said I was named after the choir teacher.. guess what? Her Neice was a choir teacher.

Im thinking yah right.. in Texas? This old lady had called me from Ohio and i was in New York. Sure enough .. yes it was the same lady. This old lady called her neice and gave her my name. The niece confirmed that my father (and gave my father's name) had told her that he had named his daughter after her at a Reunion.

How freaky?

I'm also named after my Aunt. A unique Christmas related spanish name. It's always been a bother having it since people always assume my middle initial means something else. I dropped it when I got married.

Hopefully NO ONE names their child Veronica. It's so ... plain and old and over used. The only good thing is every language based in latin has some translation of the name Veronica. Bah

My niece might have Michelle asa middle name, but it will not be becaseu of me. My SIL has loved the name Michelle since she was a child, she even asked her parents to change her name when she was younger.

Not me, but someone named their son after FH. The funny thing is that no one believes it! When I first was told, I didn't believe it either.

We happened to spend New Year's with this couple and when the mother told her sister that her son was named after FH she refused to believe it too.

Poor FH is always like why is it so hard to believe? Poor guy.

And I had a hand in naming my neice who was born today too...

I think I recall my mother saying I was named after a character on Another World! LOL!!!!!!!

Well I was named after my mother and grandmother

Lau - from the LOR in Loretta (grandmother)
Ren - from the REN in Karen (mother)

they like to think they were clever!

i was named after my grandma, and if I ever have a girl- I will name after my late mother.

I don't think too many people are catching on to Shana....but I like my name...Shana Michelle....just hate when people mispronounce it Shayna or Shawna!!!! It's Shah-nah...like the song 'sha-na-na-na'

My twin sister gave her first born (lucky it was a girl ) my name as a middle name
and I will do the same if I have a girl. I will incorporate her name somehow.

A parent at a school I used to work at named her daughter after me. She loved my name and said she was so happy she met me because she found the perfect name for her daughter. I was so flattered!!

my cousin (who is much older) said she always wanted to name her daughter Erica when she was growing up...but I was born 6 months before she got married...and my mom named me that...

so now my cousins daughter is Erin

almost everyone in my family (including me) is named after someone in some way or another
