Baby Question

Original post by RedHead

I know that everyone says ...'i just wish for a happy and healthy baby'

BUT, assuming it is happy and healthy, did you or do you have have a preference...boy or girl?

Ok yes, I'll admit it - I have always said I wanted ALL boys, and especially a boy first.

If I had a crew of boys and no girls, I would be fine with that. I love little girls, I love my niece - but always feared that I'd have a daughter that was as big of a PITA as I was growing up Especiallly since my Mom used to WISH it on me!

You just know that since I've said this out loud, I will have 3 girls!!

ETA: boys are dominant on DH's side. he is one of three brothers, and amongst his brothers kids there is only one niece out of 5 nephews .. so I'm not sure how that works out for me! (but as you've said, I will welcome any child, or )

You took the words right out of my mouth!!

Since I have Emma and Jeremy I want another girl and another boy so each of them have a sibling of the same sex to harrass

Karen, you are a very ambitious woman indeed Your little man is the cutest

I would like to try for a boy down the road. I don't know if Bob is down with the idea yet or not

Well since I already have Alia, I would love a little boy, have the couple. Hopefully I will be blessed later on.

I definitely want a girl first! I am so close to my mom and I would love to have that relationship with a daughter. I know DH would love a son to teach to play baseball, etc., so hopefully we will have one of each, but a girl first. That is, once I convince him he really does want kids!

Re: Baby Question

I honestly don't have a preference - I'd definitely like one of each gender, but for the last 5 years, FH has panicked whenever I mention raising a girl. He grew up with a nightmare for a sister, and I think he assumes all girls are the same way!!!

lately, however, he's been pointing out all the cuties we see in the stores - he loves little baby girls in pigtails and frilly dresses!

Yay! FH likes girls!

I wanted a boy, so I got lucky. Though if there's a second time around, I would love to have a girl as well.

I'd say a girl, because they are easier to name & fun to dress up! I also think DH would be a very good father to a girl.

I would like two girls. I don't have a sister but I have always wanted one. My mom and her sister are super-close, and nearly all of my friends who have sisters are very close with them and have good relationships. Or I would like two boys for the same reason. Then again, one of each would also be fine.

I just know I only want 2.

Re: Baby Question

Of course the healthy part comes first, but I honestly always wanted only boys. Definitely a boy first. Luckily, we did have a boy. I always wanted twin boys! I still do! I never wanted a girl, since I'm a tomboy myself, and I've always been friends with boys, I don't think I'll know what to do with a girl! I have been thinking about it lately, and I think a girl would be nice. I think my DH needs Daddy's Little Girl! I definitely want 2, maybe 3 kids. I think my DH only wants 2. I'll just have to work on him for the 3rd! I would like to have a boy again next, and then a little girl. But, if the next one was a girl, I'd be happy either way! I'd like for my daughter to have 2 big brothers to look after her! For the first baby, I think twins would of been too overwhelming since we didn't know what to expect. But now, I wish my son had a twin since he is such a happy, beautiful baby. I would love to see 2 of him everyday! Twins do run in my family so we'll see! I highly doubt it, but you never know!

DH has a cousin with 2 girls (who are so cute and funny) who are 13 and 11. And he told DH that he hoped we'd have boys because his daughters were making him nuts and 'it's all about the period.'

Re: Baby Question

I want a daughter. I have a great relationship with my mom and my g-ma and I want to have that with my own daughter. Plus, I would love to have 4 generations of strong women all together and my g-ma isn't getting any younger. So I am hoping this baby is a girl. I would like to have 3 kids so I definitely would like a boy as well but definitely want a daughter in the mix.

Re: Baby Question

I will admit it I ALWAYS wanted a girl. Someone to dress up and do their hair. Then when I got PG I swore for the first 2 trimesters that this was a little boy. I was so excited for that. I watched my friends that have little boys and they are just so adorable. Now honestly I don't know what this little one is and I don't really care. I really just want it to be happy and healthy.

I know I have had friends that have had little girls and swore they were girl mommies and only wanted little girls but then had a little boy for their second and are loving it! I also have the opposite with friends where they have had boys first and only wanted boys and are now having a little girl and are so excited!!!

I think it is just your instinctual maternal instincts that just want your little one to be happy and to not care.

(I didn't read this whole thread before posting so if it went in a different direction I apologize)
