Baby's R Us Classes -

When I went to register - they had a book that you can sign up to attend - they are free classes -
just wanted to know if anyone has gone to any of them? Are they worth going to?
Next Mon. they have one on your 1st week home - I am thinking of going - b/c I don't know what to do

I hope it all just comes natural b/c I am starting to feel that I don't know anything about baby's -
When I went to register - they have so much to choose from and I really felt like I don't know what you really need -
I have since gotten on the phone with some Moms and asked - Wow you really need a lot of stuff -

Ive never attended those classes but they are probably helpful to those who are unsure about how things are going to be. In the first week you recover, a lot of people come and visit, the baby eats all the time, you wake up every 2-3 hours (for like a month), no housework gets done (unless there are some Godlike moms or MIL's over to do it for you), you hold your new little baby and study every part of his/her body, you kiss them OFTEN, you change diapers (lots of those) and then when all is said and done you kiss the man who gave you the most precious gift of all and vow never to have sex again... hee hee...

Edited to say: When FI and I got the swing, bouncy seat, pack-n-play, etc. for the shower he was SHOCKED at how much stuff the baby got and swore that we would never need that much stuff... boy was he wrong we've used everything that was given to us.

In regards to the baby paraphrenalia, I highly, highly recommend a book called 'Baby Bargains' - it's by Denise & Alan Fields. It is unbelieveably helpful in narrowing down your choices. They rate all the different brands and give you alot of info on the products that you wouldn't normally know too. Also, check out babiesrus.com because people post reviews there which are extremely helpful. I found both these resources very useful.

I signed up for the classes, but never made it to attend them. I had to reschedule and never made it again. WOOPSY daisy ! I would say you have nothing to lose ! GO FOR IT !

I'd still like to attend the one on carseats, because they say that so many are installed wrong, and we dont even realize it ! yikes..

I didn't go to classes but wanted to add something about carseats. Statistics show that almost 90% of carseats are installed incorrectly. They have free car seat installation checks at a bunch of different locations on the island. They will look at your carseat, check to make sure it hasn't been recalled, install it for you, then take it out and show you how to install it. We went a few weeks before the baby came and it was great. They installed the seat so tightly and also told us not to put it in the middle because the belt in my car wouldn't be secure enough. This is something I wouldn't have known just by reading the instructions and I feel so much better knowing that my carseat is installed properly. Had to post again because I just saw your comment on how overwhelming the registry is. I was really scared that I was buying way too much for the baby and I wouldn't need everything that I bought. My only advice is to save the boxes for everything until you are POSITIVE that you are going to keep it. If I didn't return the things that I didn't like or found we didn't need, i would have spent so much more money than we did. I was at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us almost every other day that first month buying, trying and returning things. I don't mind spending it - especially for the baby but I hate wasting it!!! I am still kicking myself in the a$$ for throwing out the box to the pack and play. Most people love them, but it is so heavy and just can't see myself lugging that thing all over the place. I once saw a post on one of the pregnancy boards (I think it was pregnancy.about.com) about the most useful and useless things you had for your baby. It was really interesting and the answers were all over the place but maybe you could post something like that to get more info. Oh my - I am really babbling here!!!!
