bachelorette party... please read!!

anyone not having one?

i'm sad about the whole thing, but for reasons too detailed to get into. but i'm thinking i'm probably not going to have one. is this a dumb idea?

and if you're not doing the traditional kind, what are you doing?

Re: bachelorette party...

It's your wedding! If you aren't going to have a bachelorette party it's not 'dumb'! A friend of mine did not have one because she doesn't drink, she doesn't like to go out and do crazy things and her FH wasn't having a bachelor party ... so I don't think it's 'dumb' at all. Just personal preference/circumstances.

I'm actually also leaning towards not having a traditional bachelorette party either. I think I may just do like a spa day for me, my sister (moh) and my mom and then maybe just go out to dinner or something. I'm really close with my mom and sister so this would actullay be a lot of fun for me.

I don't think anyone is planning one for me so it's okay if you don't have one or no one does one for you

I had a bowling party in Smithtown. They did a really good job, kept the food and drinks constantly coming and the woman who helped us was great. It was SO FUN and only like 2 hours, plus if you have underage people like I did, they can have fun too. All of my aunts and friends and cousins came and it was perfect.

don't think Im having one. Most of my friends do not live in NY and I told them to save their money since they'll be flying in for the wedding and shower.

Honestly I dont care. Whatever happens, happens. It's cool with me either way.

ugh.. dont get me started on BP! seriously.. I had mine planned like in Feb and my MOH (my sis) had asked everyone back then, everyone was down now that its time to commit and pay everyone basically bailed.. so honestly, I felt like just cancelling the whole thing, but I think Im going to look into some spa options then do dinner and drinks

I almost wasn't having one either. I had planned to do a day spa - they had 'Sunday at the SPA'
I thought it would be a nice treat - can you believe I couldn't get my BM's to agree!

I am not so sure my friends and /or bridal party will have a bachelorette party for me.

The truth is that I dont want a 'traditional' one with strippers, booze or clubs. I think the whole idea IMO is anti what the purpose of marriage is. I would like something either a low key weekend away or a spa day would be nice just as a way to relax and hang out with friends without thinking about wedding planning!.

If you mean is it ok not to have a traditional one-- sure -- more and more people are doing wine tatsing, spa, dinner etc., cooking classes or dancning classes, . whatever it is that you would have fun doing. If you mean not having one at all-- that is fine too if its your choice-- do not feel like you HAVE To have one- bc you dont at all.

But if you feel like you want one and you cant have one bc of other people complaning, or not panning etc.. then you may regret it f you dont have one and depending on the situtation and reason, there may be a way around it so that you can have a bparty that you want.

thanks girls. you all really have some great ideas and suggestions. i think i just got caught up in what it 'should' be...forgetting that it's about ME. ... i definitely don't want to do the whole 'traditional' type...it just doesn't fit my personality. i never even thought to do something like a spa, wine tasting, even bowling! :o) all such great ideas! thanks so much. you all cheered me up too!!

I am having mine at my house. My bp, mother, aunts, cousins, and friends for drinks and cards. Doing a casino theme, since I love to gambe.

We did a at home one for my sis and it was a lot of fun!!!

i'm not doing one.. long complicated story but to be honest i dont mind. instead of a bachelorette party me and my brother are going to albany to see eddie vedder. that's going to be my party.. and i couldn't be more excited. bc it's 11 days before my wedding and probably the last thing i'll do with my little brother. don't worry, bachelorette parties are overrated anyway :)
