bachlorette party

So today i had talked to my MOH my sister and she wants to do a spa day and dinner for my bachlorette party. I don't want to do that for a couple of reasons. i dont like them, i break out from the oils they use ( 3 weeks before my wedding) and last i want something fun and memorible. When i said that to her, she then stated she wasn't going to come. My mom then called me and said i was out of line and its not my job to plan it. i said i wasnt i was trying to find out the date because a bm has other things going on and needed to know the date. I ended up in tears saying i dont want one.

Well you ARE the bride and although you're not 'supposed' to have a say, you should definitely be able to choose if you want a low key spa party or if you want a go out drinking party!

The only say I have in my b-party is how wild I wanted it. All my friends are friends with my FH so I don't think they'll want to do anything against my will which would disrespect him. But as far as planning everything else, I have no idea what they're doing and no say

My girls asked what I wanted to do, but then again we all have the same taste for BP's and had talked about places to go way in advance.

You really should voice your concerns to your MOH. Be firm but also keep in mind that she probably spent time and energy researching what she thought you would like.

I feel very strongly that I do not want a bachelorette party. I don't see the point if I am also getting a shower. I spoke to my MOH and she suggested a spa day, and when I told FH, he suggested that the girls meet up with the guys for dinner that night. He and the GMs are going to a Yanks game during the day. So.....if FH and I get our way, this will be our rendition of a 'Bachelor Party'. Really to us it's just an excuse to break bread and party with the people we are closest to. I think you should definitely have a say......leave the surprises for the shower.

I was lucky enough to have my MOH's sister offer her lake house to us for the weekend. I helped pick out the date but other than that its up to the girls what is going on. Most likely we will party at the house all day and head out in the evening for some 'adult' entertainment

I definetly think you should have a say in what you do for your bach party. My BMs wanted to take me to Vegas, I didnt want to go for a variety of reasons. I told my sister (my MOH) that doing that would not make me happy. She arranged something (I dont know what it is) and promises it will be anti-vegas

This is your wedding and any parties pertaining to it should be what you want to do.

I think the the bride should have some say...I really didn't have to say much to my BP because they know I wouldn't want a spa day, retreat or anything like that. They did ask me if I wanted or was opposed to a stripper/strip club. I said I wouldn't be upset if I didn't have one but wouldn't cry if we did! That's all the input I gave. i think a general idea is enough. It is your party and they should take that into account.

You should be able to chhose what you want to do & then the planning is up to the bridal party!!

i planned my whole bachelorette party. b/c i wanted to do something i never did before so i had to put my input. so were going to tony & tina's wedding in new York City and then going to Mirage night club afterwards i told them i don't want anything to do with strippers i had to make sure that wasen't going to happen. It's hard to suprise me b/c i have to know everything. the only suprise there is going to be is my bridal shower.

Although I am not planning my bachelorette party, my man of honor gave me a few vague choices about what to do - trashy vs. classy, etc. So, in a way, I gave some input. All asked him was to tell me what to wear so I could go buy a new outfit.

In a similar thought, my FH gave his best man some ideas on what he would like to do as well. As far as I know, his best man is doing all of the planning with those ideas in mind.

You have valid reasons for not wanting to do a spa day. Your MoH should be more understanding and take your wants into consideration. Why don't you talk to your MoH and give her a few specific suggestions so that she has an idea of what you would want to do.

a few of my girls wanted to do that but i told them that I dont find that kind of thing fun. when i go to the spa, i like to go alone then come home take a shower and sleep. I told them that I wanted to go out east to the wineries and thats what we are going to do. they are renting a party bus and a ton of people are coming.

I told them what I wanted to do, and they planned it. Your MOH might just be hurt that you didnt like her idea. Its YOUR party, it seems silly to me that your MOH would insist on doing something that you dont want do...isnt the party for YOU?

There is no right and wrong. I hate how everything is tradition, etc.

The bach party is about YOU. It's not about what THEY want. You're the one who needs to be happy. If it's a money issue, then toss in some cash (which is probably what I'm going to do) but if it's something where you don't feel comfy or isn't how you see yourself having fun, you need to communicate that some how and don't worry about your mom. Different generation... and moms rarely take the bride's side I'm slowly finding out. Ha ha! I say think of some nice ideas and run it by your BMs.

Good luck!

i don't think it's out of line to inform someone of an allergic reaction you would have. Sorry your sister was insulted, but i see nothing wrong with telling the truth.

why is it your MOH and sister don't know this exactly?

I sent my sister (MOH) suggestions of things I'd like to do and am letting her figure it out with the other BMs. You absolutely have a say in what you want to do, especially if what they picked you don't like!
