Back for an update... No longer a 2008 bride but big news!

Original post by JessicaLuvsDanny

It has been a long time since I posted on here but so much stuff has happened in the past month. There has been a lot of family drama but the biggest news is that I am apparently pregnant! This was totally unexpected for both of us but I took 5 pregnancy tests last week and they all came back positive so it appears that we will be having a little baby! So far only my immediate family knows but we will probably tell people after another month or so.

I estimate I'm about 4-5 weeks along which as luck would have it would make the baby due right around our Nov 1 wedding date.

Sooooooooo Danny and I decided to push off the wedding to 09, possibly even 2010 so we can focus on the baby. It also gives us a lot more options with respect to planning the big wedding we always wanted.

I probably won't be around that much but just wanted to give you an update.

Edit: I replied again on the top of page 3...

First of all.... congrats on the new baby!

I have two friends who both became pregnant before they meant to. The first got pregnant before she was engaged to a long time boyfriend. The second became pregnant during her engagement.

Each chose a different decision about when to get married, but one thing is sticking in my head that one of the girls said: She said that she wanted the baby to be born into the security of having married parents. She was concerned about the child later on down the line and wanted the baby to have been born to married parents. I tend to agree with her and think it is best for the new family to be married, but I think that a prudent decision made by you with the life of the new baby in mind, is great.

That's just my opinion, and that's what I would do. I would want to be married and be a legal family and also before my family and church, to feel the security of that.

You can always have a larger wedding later, as other brides suggested.

If I can be of help, please let me know.

Congrats.
My son is a Nov baby. Its a good time to give birth, you will have a few months to lose the baby fat before the summer

were people ok with the fact that you have a child out of wedlock? Danny's parents really want us to move UP our wedding so we will be married when I give birth but we don't want to do the whole shotgun wedding thing and we are willing to wait for a big wedding. of course this isn't really what we planned, but how much of life really is?

My parents werent happy about it all. But they got over it. Then I had my sister telling me we should go get married cuz I was pregnant. I didnt want to get married just because I was pregnant. I say wait and do the big wedding. Just take into account that with this little blessing there will also be more financial responsibilities. I dont know what your finances are like but this can also affect the size of your wedding later. Now you will have the baby to consider.
Good Luck

Do what is right for you, don't do something just because its what his parents want. If you would rather wait then go for it, when you do have your wedding then it should be what YOU want and how you envision it. They need to just get over it and once the baby comes they'll forget about all that because they'll focus on their new grandchild and nothing else will matter then

I agree with Espo22. You have to do what is right for both of you and the baby. If you want the big wedding then you deserve to have it. My brother and SIL just went through this in 2006. They weren't planning on getting married for a couple of years since they were low on money and wanted to save, but then low and behold they found out they were having my niece. Both sides of the family (parents) wanted them to get married right away. They actually decided to have a small immediate family only wedding with a justice of the peace at my parent's house for a variety of reasons (they decided it would be easier for her as far as people's questions, two insurance and three b/c they loved each other ) but they did have a big church wedding and reception the following summer a few months after my niece was born. They were really glad that they waited and did everything the way they had always wanted to! So go for what you want! and most importantly Congratulations!!!!
