well some of you may remember my posts about goin to the bahamas....welllllll it didn`t turn out to be the trip we all planned for.....to make a very very long story short we left friday got to miami and american airlines lost a bag.....6 hours later in the airport they still didn`t know where is was. yes i said 6 hours waiting in baggage claim! we had to leave at this point or we would have missed the cruise ship. we get there to find out while being checked in that the law changed the day before we got there...that they do not accept hospital issued birth certificates any longer amd we had one in our party of 6. we all could have gone but FH`s dad. now keep in mind it`s his 3 sons his wife and i. he paid for this whole vacation for us......we couldn`t just leave him it wouldn`t be right!! so we all decided to say screw it!! BUT they didn`t know if they would get our luggage off the boat!!!! so now not only would we be missing one bag we would be missing alll 6!! we eventually did get our bags and got escorted out of the building (we weren`t too quiet about this situation) we find a ride to the airport switch our flight home from monday afternoon to sunday afternoon find a hotel and a rent a car and spent 2 nights in miami went down to south beach and had an awesome time jet skis and sunning and shopping we get up our final day go to the airport to see the line for security and start to think we are never going to make our plane home.....to finally get thru and find out we have been delayed over an hour......and then delayed a nother hour after that!! so our bahamas trip was mostly lived out like t he movie terminal! Ohhhh amd the best part is.......there will be no refund from the cruise line because they claim that thay can change the law whenever they want with no notice to u. this happened to 3 other people just while we were in the builiding....i`m sure a lot more all day!! Well i guess that wasn`t a long story short but if i told you all the stuff that went down to us all day every day you would be here for a week trying to read this!

Good question!!! I thought the only birth certificate was from the hospital!

awful and I bet the customer service was lousy through the whole process and mostly everyone was rude to you & your family
been through something similar- sorry you had to go through that

we are going on a cruise for our HM so I would like to know also, I have a passport is that enough?

that is horrible I would be pissed and you couldn't even get your money back at least you made the best out of it I am sorry you all had to go through something like that

That is horrible. I'm going on a cruise in April and was warned to get a passport b/c as of Jan 1 08 they will no longer accept birth certificate as proof. Crazy that all of you had what you needed and they wouldn't take his id the way it was. I'm sure they could've been a little more accommodating. How frustrating. AND the bag loss, I know it happens but super annoying. That's why i wanted to cruise out of NY so I didn't have to deal with the airlines, but it didn't work out that way.
I'm glad you at least got to enjoy yourself in Miami!

Good question!!! I thought the only birth certificate was from the hospital!
well for most of us the one you have should be fine. we (i think) are to young to have this problem but make sure it says issued from the state of new york on it not from the hospital you are born in. but in the next few months you will NEED a passport

yess yess it was!! no one cared at all amd we were just kicked to the curb!!! no where to go np transportation no nothing!!!

yes your passport is fine it`s actually the better way to go.

That is horrible. At least you made the best of it and had fun in Miami. I can't believe that can make changes without giving any notice to passengers.
