This weekend I met with FBB and Crest florists in douglaston.
FBB- the woman pushed flower centerpiece ideas on me when I said from the start I did not want flowers , all of her albums she showed me were from the bad 90's and consisted of wedding albums not really flowers. I asked what type of flowers for the bm bouquets besides roses and she kept saying the same thing over and over again without showing me any ideas! her quote for 3 pillar candles with petals or leaves for each table was 75 <--- r u kidding me?????
Crest- very nice older man that was willing to work with any budget and do what I want but his flowers were not in great shape and all he kept showing me was roses blahh and all if his pictures were dated as well.
so disappointed any suggestions on someone who has a lot of flowers on site and is willing to hustle to win my business and not shut down just because I do not want flower centerpieces

I had a really great experience at Burton's this weekend.. I know its a hike for you but might be worth it. I am not sure if they would charge you extra for delievery but you could call and ask first before setting up an appointment.
I had another florist and she just wasnt really 'geting' it and was pushing things on me I didnt like so I checked out Burton's and the guy I met with (John) was great, knew exactly what I wanted and gave us a great price.

If you don't mind coming to Brooklyn you can check out June Florist on 18th Avenue off of 86th Street. They do fabulous work and it is a small family owned business. Jimmy is very good and although he may seem rushed and busy he is definitely listening to you and will do what you want. Both my sons used June for their weddings and the flowers were amazing! There is also Flowers by EMil on 18th Avenue and 72nd Street who does good work too.

I am working with Metro Floral Decorators .. I worked with John in the Astoria location but I know they have a store in Great Neck. I would def set up an appt to meet with John - he gives you the best prices and his flowers are fresh and great. He has unique ideas (see my album for my cp) and he will work with any budget. Plus you can haggle with him

Sorry you had a bad experience. I worked at a florist a few years back, and a lot of the places do not put pieces together for you while you are there for a regular appointment. That is why they do the sample piece a few months before your wedding. And I get what you mean about the outdated album, we had that in the old shop I worked at...and I've noticed that too with the florists I've checked out. Guess girls go with an idea of what they want or pictures and they don't really need to keep them updated. What if you bring some ideas next time you go to an appointment? Maybe that will give the salesperson a better idea of what you and your fiance like? I haven't heard much about Crest, but I've heard wonderful things about FBB. Sorry you had a bad experience. Try to get sample ideas of what you like. I mean I know $75 seems crazy for candles, but just from working in that business I can't see anyone doing much under $50. It's probably not worth it for them, they figure you can put something together yourself. Check out Pedestals, Flower Michelle, and United Florist. They all come well recommended

The first florist I went to didnt even have real pictures!! She kept showing me pictures of things on her iphone! To top it off she wouldnt even give me a price for what I was asking for, she just kept asking me how much I want to spend! I went straight from there to FBB and had a great experience, as long as it continues I would highly reccommend them.

Do you happen to know if they do multiple weddings in a day? I was hoping to see them when I go back to LI next month.

We're using Stefan's. They are awesome. Working for a dj company for 4 years (years ago in my younger days) , I saw so many different things they've done and everything was awesome.
Pedestals just did my friend's sister in laws wedding and their bouquets were UNBELIEVABLE-mango colored callalillies.
With either place you can't go wrong.

i had an appt with them this past saturday, i loved them. Didnt think twice about booking with them!
