Bad Job News...UPDATED..not so bad anymore.

We are going to be on Dateline on Sunday... a bad show where they are exposing 'lies' in the skin care industry.
This is from their website:

SUNDAY, OCT. 17
12:00 a.m ET As the beauty industry goes high-tech, more companies are citing scientific research claiming that their products will make consumers more beautiful, less wrinkled and younger-looking. 'Dateline's' Victoria Corderi goes on a hidden camera investigation to see where the truth lies.

But on a positive note Oprah called us for a future show

Sorry
Why is it you company is getting sooo much exposure? Why not focus on the hundreds of other companies? I mean to say something bad about...why did they pick your company?

YEs we are named on the show, but a lot of other well-known companies are too. They went into Saks NY with a hidden camera. We used to be there. With all the restructuring we did this summer we are no longer in any store, we are only sold direct now. They emailed us woth questions... our lawyers and new president answered their questions as best as they could, but some of the answers are confidential and they wouldn't tell them everything they wanted to know. That means to dateline that we are hiding something.
And why our company is always in the spotlight is because what we do is new, exciting, and contraversial.

We were just on... I am sooo relieved this is over with. Overall I think they made us look good. I have a feeling this will result in sales, since they saw an improvement in the woman's skin who used our cream. We will find out tomorrow!

I hope, in the long run, that this ends up being positive for your company!

i caught the tail end of it - and i didn't see what the big deal was. its all about skin care right? apparently, dateline was trying to expose those companies that claim their product is the best, blah, blah, blah...it didn't seem like they portrayed any one company in a bad light.

They said they all weren't worth the money and they are all basically just moisturizers, you can use lard to get the same effect. That is definately NOT TRUE... but our company is a small start up company and what dateline just did what put us in the same category as very well known high end skin care companies, for example La Mer... free advertising They did the spotlight investigation on 2 companies... ours was one. The other cream had no effect on the womans skin. Her skin actually looked worse after! But her dermatologist said the side where our cream was applied was improved. The woman noticed a change in her skin also.
Their expert was the guy the wrote Cosmetics Unmasked. I think they could have found a better expert. I read his book. He talked about cosmetic comapnies using 'code names' for their ingredient labels. If he is such an expert he would know that those codes are called INCI names...the FDA requires that all cosmetic comapanies use thestandardized INCI name for each ingredient. He was acting like the cosmetic comapnies do it to confuse customers when it is the law In the end our cream worked and they got our name out there
Oh and one more thing... I was on TV They used some of the footage from when we were on the today show. I am the girl using the computer...you see the back of my head.

Glad to hear they put your co. in a positive light (even if Dateline was trying to say the lotions were not helpful).

I went to watch it but missed that segment.

That is pretty funny that that author you mentioned talked about 'codes' like the cosmetic industry is doing something sneaky yet it's mandated by the government that you use the 'codes'. I can't stand how media puts a spin on everything.
