Has anyone gone to the one in Smithaven Mall that's closing? I know they are having a huge clearance sale. Have you gotten anything there? I just want to know if it's worth the trip from Nassau to check it out. I want a new setting for my e-ring.

Re: Bailey Banks and Biddle
I needed to get a pocket watch so I called to see how many they had. The person went and checked and told me exactly what they had and it wasnt what I was looking for and it saved me a trip. So I would recommend giving them a call and ask them how much they have left before you make the trip. They gave me prices over the phone as well.

Re: Bailey Banks and Biddle
I just called the Huntington one and they have a few Scott Kay pieces..but anything on the website is new and they don't have it. The Roosevelt Field store has that stuff. It's the clearance merchandise that's at that store. When I called the Smithaven store they said they had Ritani stuff too..I hope they aren't just saying that to get me in the store..

I went to the one in the Walt Whitman Mall recently to look at wedding bands and the woman who was 'helping' us was extremely rude. I have never had such poor service anywhere in my life. She actually made faces behind my back and my FH caught her! I understand she is losing her job but there is no reason to treat people with such disrespect. Doesn't matter, I will NEVER give them my business now.

wow...I wonder if I got the same lady on the phone. She was basically saying that there's nothing here...go to Roosevelt Field. The Smithaven Mall lady was super sweet and nice on the phone and was very busy though. I don't know if it's worth it to drive all the way there and then get disappointed.

They definitely have stuff left.
I just bought my wedding band at the Smithhaven location from them. It's a Scott Kay platinum band, with 1/2 carat in diamonds, and retailed for $1800. I got it for $575. There's a pic of it somewhere on the 06 board.

I had a similar experience at the roosevelt field store. The sales manager was so rude. They had a platinum and diamond eternity wedding band that was similar to the one I wanted. I asked him how much it was. He said he would recommend that I get it in white gold so it would fall within my budget. Hello? I never told him how much we wanted to spend, he just assumed I couldnt afford it. A-hole!!

I had a similar experience when we first went to the Smithhaven location looking for my e-ring. The woman was extremely rude, and acted like we couldn't afford walking in there. (Excuse me for not dressing up to go ring shopping!!)
But the woman I dealt with last week in the same store was nothing but very friendly. Go figure.

omg, i had the same experience, they were one of the first stores i started looking in, in roosevelt field. me and fI were looking at rings and the sales girl was saying how expensive the ones i liked were, i mean i never told her my budget and she was so rude saying it was soooo expensive, i found they did not carry stones with high clarity or color grades. I went to Tiffany and H.L. Gross and got to try on rings for 60k. The saleswoman never questioned my budget or how i was going to pay. I am kinda glad they went out of business...if anyone can benefit from them going out i think thats great!!!

Re: Bailey Banks and Biddle
I got my wedding band at the one im the Walt Whitman mall. It was back in May, so there weren't any going-out-of-business doorbuster sales, but there was some kind of a sale on and the saleswoman was superattentive, knowledgable and helpful-- and I get compliments on my wedding band all the time. My band has diamonds, but it's a very unusual setting. It's really unlike anything I saw at any jeweler, and I went all over the place on LI and on 47th St. in Manhattan. At the time, BBB had a really large selection of diamond bands and some good prices on platinum. (My DH, however, didn't like one thing in the store and ended up getting his in the city.) I don't kno what the selection is like now that they are closing, but it can't hurt to check it out. Happy shopping!!!
My engagement ring is from the Smithhaven mall store..I personally thought the woman who helped FH and I was stuck up and fake. The manager was even worse. I saw him whispering about us to the saleswoman and making faces. My ring is Ritiani and unfortunately that chain is one of the only stores around that carries that designer. I really don't want to give them my business eve again.

Re: Bailey Banks and Biddle
I don't like the Huntington store but the SMithhaven store is where my e-ring and wedidng band came from, before they knew they were closing. We dealt directly with the manager. Then I went back for the sale and got a watch.
The manager explained the clearance sale. Another company BOUGHT all of BBB's clearance merchandise. That company is running the clearance sale, which will be under the BBB name until after the holidays. The merchandise is a combo of BBB clearance and merchandise that this other company owns. While the BBB name is still on this sale, BBB can reject the other store's merchandise if it is not of BBB quality. After the holidays, the store will close entirely for a bit, undergo renovations and reopen as a jewelry clearance store (without the BBB name).
All of the stores are not closing. Roosevelt Field will stay open. I was surprised that someone here said they didn't see good color and clarity at BBB. BBB tries not to use diamonds that are below the 'near colorless' range and I thought they had a clarity cutoff as well. If you tell them what you are looking for, they will get in diamonds that meet your specs.
I was last in the store 3 weeks ago and we asked the manager (who we have gotten to know) what are the best deals in he store. He said it could change but at that time, semi-mounts, pearls and sterling were the best buys. There was not a lot of sterling, though. He also siad that there are some loose diamonds, not many, but what they had were really good buys.
I hope this helps someone.
Now, if anyone goes there, please tell me if it is true that there are Ritani items there on sale!!!! I am a RITANI FREAK!!!!!! My e-ring is the Endless love. My wedding band is a Scott Kay Pave that is also from BBB. The 2 go great together!
