Has anyone gone to the one in Smithaven Mall that's closing? I know they are having a huge clearance sale. Have you gotten anything there? I just want to know if it's worth the trip from Nassau to check it out. I want a new setting for my e-ring.

I don't like the Huntington store but the SMithhaven store is where my e-ring and wedidng band came from, before they knew they were closing. We dealt directly with the manager. Then I went back for the sale and got a watch.
The manager explained the clearance sale. Another company BOUGHT all of BBB's clearance merchandise. That company is running the clearance sale, which will be under the BBB name until after the holidays. The merchandise is a combo of BBB clearance and merchandise that this other company owns. While the BBB name is still on this sale, BBB can reject the other store's merchandise if it is not of BBB quality. After the holidays, the store will close entirely for a bit, undergo renovations and reopen as a jewelry clearance store (without the BBB name).
Kerie-thanks for the info..waiting for rush hour to die down some and then probably heading over there. They have Ritani-I called and one of the semi-mounts is one I love. I don't know how much it's going to be. Don't want to give DH a heart attack. He is already not thrilled I want to re-set my ring.
All of the stores are not closing. Roosevelt Field will stay open. I was surprised that someone here said they didn't see good color and clarity at BBB. BBB tries not to use diamonds that are below the 'near colorless' range and I thought they had a clarity cutoff as well. If you tell them what you are looking for, they will get in diamonds that meet your specs.
I was last in the store 3 weeks ago and we asked the manager (who we have gotten to know) what are the best deals in he store. He said it could change but at that time, semi-mounts, pearls and sterling were the best buys. There was not a lot of sterling, though. He also siad that there are some loose diamonds, not many, but what they had were really good buys.

Wow..I had a totally different experience with Diego when FH was buying my Ritani ring. I really did not care for him at all.

Cool, I dealt with Joyce, MaryLou and Diego and LOVE my rings. The e-ring was with MaryLou and the wedding band was with Joyce. Diego helped with all of it and I dealt directly with him for my watch
FM me a photo of what you got from them, if you feel like it! I've never seen anything from BBB that I did not like!
BTW-- I think Diego will be going to Roosevelt Field. Either way, I'll shop there. His wife already works in the Roosevelt Field store and she's probably just as nice as he is! How I could possibly think of spending more $ on jewelry in the future is beyond me, but I guess I will find a way!

My engagement ring is from the Smithhaven mall store..I personally thought the woman who helped FH and I was stuck up and fake. The manager was even worse. I saw him whispering about us to the saleswoman and making faces. My ring is Ritiani and unfortunately that chain is one of the only stores around that carries that designer. I really don't want to give them my business eve again.
Oh, sorry you had a bad experience. I actually went to just about every store that carries Ritani (not many, like you said). And FH went back to Smithhaven because we liked them and they gave us time. My experience at Fortunoff in the city and Westbury wasn't as good, so I went back to Smithhaven. Well, I'm sure you love your Ritani ring, so at least you got something good in the end!!!!!!

When I got the band, I dealt with a young asian woman, and there was also a husky spanish guy in his late 20's early 30's. I wonder if that was Diego.
When we went looking for my e-ring and got the snobby person, it was an older woman with white hair.

Th older woman might have been MaryLou but I am not sure. I didn't have that experience at BBB but I had it in other aspects of my wedding planning. One photographer told me, 'My cheapest package is 2 grand, so call me if you plan on spending that.' Umm, a-hole, I never told you how much I wanted to spend, for all you know it could be 20 grand!!!!
Anyway, Diego is a big guy, so it was probably him that you saw. Was he there when the lady was snotty to you? I'm curious.

Omg it was probably the same woman I dealt with. After they sized my ring, it was still too big and they couldn't size it in any smaller because the diamonds go all the way around the band. Well my mom came with me to see what they go do and my mom suggested they put sizing beads in it. Well, my saleslady who name was Mary something said 'oh no, we don't do THAT here. As if it were a bad thing. My mother worked at Harry Winston years ago and knew what she was talking about! So Mary whatever her name was took me into the back to show the jeweler [and wouldn't let my mom go!] and the jeweler suggested sizing beads!!! When I came out and told my mom, my mom basically told her off!

So I went-I met Tara and Diego...super nice! I saw one Scott Kay ring there that I liked and one that I liked but DH didn't.
What was left in the semi-mounts were very nice but not exactly what I was looking for. The prices can't be beat. I was looking at platinum and diamond settings that were $700!
I went to another jewelry store right across the way and saw one ring we loved. They weren't sure they could sell me just the setting so they said they will call me today about it. It looks like a Scott Kay, but the manager wouldn't confirm the designer. I know she knew, but she wouldn't tell me. They were also trying to sell me the whole ring $4000! I'm not in the market for a new stone, just a semi-mount. Also the stones didn't match my center stone and I want that. She said that it will cost more if we match the stones..I said what's the point of not matching them? Why would I even bother?
I'm not re-setting my e-ring again..this is it...it has to be right.
All in all, I finally found the setting I want. If they can't get it for me, I'll have my jeweler make it up. I can sketch it if I have to. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Kerie-they didn't have any Ritani...sorry-but some of the other jewelry stores had Ritani like settings.

WEIRD!!! I got sizing beads--suggested by Diego and the jeweler. The jeweler was really concerned that they would be uncomfortable though. However, they are fine. They are small. My ring pretty much fit, it just didn't feel secure enough.

FH got my E-ring at BBB at Walt Whitman. But, since they are closing I have to go to Roosevelt Field if I need any work done. It is such a trek. I'm so unhappy about them closing. Anyway, the Walt Whitman BBB told me Roosevelt BBB does the sizing beads right in front of you.

That's another thing! They did not do it in front of me and made me come back EIGHT hours later for a 10 minute job. This was the Smithhaven Mall location.
