I am not talking about the kind you bounce or throw, I am talking about the big ones you have to have to do the kind of thing I am about to tell you....
I have 3 flower girls. One is my cousin, the other 2 are FH's cousins. When we were ordering the dresses for the girls, FH's Aunt (the mother of the girls) gave us a hard time about it because she wanted to pick them out. I told her it wasn't her place to do that and she told me that if I wanted to pick the dresses I should pay for them! Can you believe the nerve? Anyway, I ordered the dress for my cousin (made to match my BM dresses) in the meantime because she said that she wouldn't order over the internet. We figured when Sarah's dress came we would show it to her and she would see it was nice and we could order matching dresses for her daughters. I come to find out yesterday that she went out and had dresses for her daughters custom made with out ever seeing the dress I bought for the first flower girl! Now the only dresses that will match will be her daughters. My cousin will be in a completly different dress. Meanwhile who knows what color, style or type of dress she took it upon herself to get.
FH is fuming. I am livid and we called his mother last night and told her that if the dresses aren't right (how could they be?), those girls will not be in the wedding. FH's mother is upset because she wants to see her nieces walk down the aisle, and FH's grandmother want to see her grandkids walk down the aisle so I end up being the bad one if we don't let them in the wedding. His aunt apparently doesn't care and is banking on the fact that we will be pressued to let them walk down in the dresses she chose.
Like I said before...........Balls!

Re: Balls!
I would like everyone to know by the way that I usually lead a nice quiet normal life. I know that from what you can all tell of me from my posts it seems like I am drawn to drama but I really am not. I am a nice peace loving person!

Re: Balls!
Screw that! Tell you FMIL its your wedding... don't let her pressure you to do anything you don't want. Actually make FH do it so he's 'the bad guy' Thats one reason im NOT having flowergirls/ringbearers!!

Tara, I am so sorry that you are having all these problems. I agree with Rachel. Stand your ground. Did they forget whose wedding it is?

Re: Balls!
OMG!!! That is ridiculous!!! You can not let her get away with that. You have to tell her that either her daughters wear the dress you picked out or they won't be walking down the aisle. I know it's tough, but that is just plain ridiculous. And if FH's mom and grandmother can't see that his aunt is wrong, then there's something wrong with them too. I am upset just hearing the story, I can only imagin how you must be feeling right now. I am so sorry.

IMO, they could be the most beautiful, wonderful fantastic dresses in creation and those kids STILL would NOT be in my wedding!!!

Re: Balls!
Ditto Erox...I don't care if those girls were wearing diamond studded gowns...I'd tell the mother to bite it and to have great time sitting at the back of the room!

Re: Balls!
I completely agree with eroxgirl, it's the principal. It doesn't matter how nice the dresses she got are - those girls CAN NOT wear them!
Edited to say that this is, of course, JMO. I don't have to deal with these people so this is very easy for me to say.

I can't believe that!!!! I am so sorry for you. It just keeps getting better, doesn't it? Why do people seem to think it is there wedding day and they have any right to tell you what to do. I'm with Thrilled don't give in to them she is completly wrong and by you giving in she will think she has won and try more crap.

Re: Balls!
I really can't beleive some people. Whate nerve. Stick to what you said...She has no right picking out the dresses...yet have them made w/o having you even see them...If she wants her daughters to were those dresses...I say have them wear them as guests...its her fault if she is upset. Its your wedding..

Re: Balls!
I swear, some people are such control freaks. It's YOUR wedding and what you say about the dresses goes. The Bride is the boss! If she doesn't like it, then she's the one that's going to look bad for trying to make decisions regarding your wedding. Try not to stress too much about this!

Re: Balls!
OMG!!!!! I wouldn't let them in the wedding anymore! This is one MAJOR problem, and it seems like there would only be more to follow! Sad thing is, the little girls! Ok, if it could be worked out, I still might let them in- the Aunt would have to make some serious promises to NOT interfere and pull anything though!
I'd have FH speak to her, it's his side of the family.

Re: Balls!
What is wrong with this person? Does she think this is her wedding or something?
I would definately speak to her about this ASAP in person, if possible. Show her the picture of 'The Flowergirl Dress' and let her know that it is the dress that YOUR Flowergirls will be wearing!

Re: Balls!
Solution that may work to stick it to this a**.
Tell her that since the girls don't match your cousin (your first flower girl) they will serve as 'hostesses' instead. They will not walk down the aisle, but they will be incharge of handing out programs and bubbles!
