I was 100% into booking with a DJ until we went to a bridal showcase recently and fell in love with a band. However, when I called they said they would not fit in my RH room :( We are booked for Fox Hollow in the Briar Fox room and a 9-piece band would have trouble fitting with the tables. I am upset to hear this and it makes me think maybe we should have booked the bigger room. They gave us a referral for a 6-piece band but I need your help! Any recommendations for smaller bands that still have a big sound that plays current music and sounds just like the singers on the radio? Or recommend some awesome DJs please!!

Re: Band/ DJ HELP!
Def check out The Projekt. We booked 7 pieces (the smallest number of pieces you can book) and they are great. They play all types of music. FM me with any questions.

Check out After Hours Entertainment; we used their DJ/MC services for our wedding but I do know they have a band as well.
I believe they are offering special prices if you book by January 31st.
We were very happy with them...and so were our guests. We got a lot of compliments!

IMO you always get the exact sound and songs with a DJ. Bands take too may breaks. They're more expensive and its more mouths you have to feed. We booked with MRG. But we were torn between them and Tommys Tunes. When it came down to it, it was very hard to decide.

We had an amazing DJ. Here's his website: http://www.djbriswatek.com/ Don't let his geeky look fool you, he really knows his stuff. AND he's really low priced.

actually, the rules about bands are slightly changing. to give a different perspective, i booked a band and we don't have to feed them and they do play for the whole time... they play soft/instrumental music during the main course but they never throw a CD on (unless you ask them to do so); so its always live music.
i do have to say its not the exact version of the song you are used to hearing (obviously) but some bands are pretty spot on! (my band is either 8 or 9 pieces so its probably too big for your space but look into options for both bands and djs so you know you fully researched it so you will be happy with your choice!)

Re: Band/ DJ HELP!
Our band did not stop the entire night. So much better than a DJ because it is live music. We did have a large band and there were 5 singers on the dance floor singing and dancing with all my guests. It was awesome. At some points you felt like you were at a concert singing back at the band.
Band's definitely make the party.. I was married in June and everyone still talks about my wedding, especially the band.

We are using CODE BLEU!!!! They are the best. We booked them a year and a half in advance to ensure they could reserve our date. They are a really highly/well reviewed on LIW. We are getting the 10 piece band to play our cocktail hour and our reception.

ITA..my band doesn't take any breaks and they just play soft music during the main course, but they don't put on a CD (unless you tell them you want that).

Re: Band/ DJ HELP!
Wow girls thanks! I already have 3 bridal shows within the next 2 weeks to see some DJ/ Bands and I'm going to look at the banquet room again to see how crowded it will be with a large band. Thanks for all the recommendations and I'll def be checking most of them out!

our band (Code Bleu) told us the same thing about feeding them (that we didn't have to). however, our venue required us to pay for their meals (at vendor rate) anyway. and i know of other venues that do the same.

Check out my review of Variety DJ - the dance floor was PACKED all night! I believe they have musicians / percussionists that play along if you want the live music feel while fitting into your space. You won't be disappointed! Ask for Ray as MC and Frank as your DJ!

Re: Band/ DJ HELP!
Hey
You might want to look up the touch. I am not sure how many pieces they are though. They were great at my FSIL wedding
Also, these are the list of DJ's FH and I have seen and liked Fusion DL (like a band, really cool), LI Sound, Variety Music, Bravuria, and Starlight Express.

Ask them for a DVD or try to get to a showcase. Definitely worth it!

Re: Band/ DJ HELP!
The band we used, Soul Revival, can go as small as you need. I know they can go down to 5 pieces b/c my cousin had a really small wedding and used them, and couldn't fit anymore pieces in the room then 5. They were awesome too.
