We really want a band but aren't sure if it's worth spending the extra money. I've been emailing some bands to get price quotes and it looks like some are booked already for out date! It's not until 9/4/2011! Over a year away!
Does anyone have a price breakdown of a bunch of bands so we can get an idea? We want a band that's really fun with high energy that plays a lot of popular music. How much more is it for a band instead of a DJ?
I'm kind of lost because it seems like there are so many bands out there and the price ranges so much!

I vote Band all the way
But I am biased. We booked with Code Bleu for our 9/17/11 wedding and they are AMAZING. I only looked at bands so i'm not sure how the price compares with DJs but we are paying 6,500 for Code Bleu. They are an 8 piece band and the price seemed pretty reasonable compared with other bands I looked at.
Just make sure that your band or DJ has everyone dancing! That's the most important part

I am having a band but i think it is a personal choice. there is price difference which can make it hard to make the decision. I went with Vision- it is part of Franklin Wayne Music (they have 4 different bands) all are 8 or 9 piece bands and have different sounds They are aroud $6700. I also looked into Paris, which may have been low $6000s.
I think like the post above me - overall you want someone who is going to play music that gets people on the dance floor- band or dj is your choice based on your preference and budget.

I would def call code bleu.. they were booked on my date. I LOVED peat moss and the fertilizers too.. BOOKED also.
I went with Bravura, which is a band / dj mix and it was the BEST decision ive ever made. THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best of both worlds.. satisfy everyone

FH and I wanted a DJ, FMIL insisted on a band. She's paying, so band it is. She wanted something from Faze 4, so we booked Sound Image as they were the ones I liked best. I requested NOT to know the price because I think it's ridiculous, but they emailed my FH a copy of the contract with the price on and I couldn't help but ask. Apparently it's like 8500.00. It honestly makes me sick.

It's definitely a personal choice. The price difference is noticeable I think, but I've heard of brides spending close to if not more on a DJ once they add in all the extras like percussion, themed singer, etc.
We booked Paris and they were about $7k... My parents wanted a band and I was kind of leaning towards DJ, but we settled on them because they were AMAZING and played a lot of popular music.. Sounded just like the recording if not better, and it was important to me to have a fun band that could play youthful party music
