FH and I can't decide on a band or DJ... Please help us out.

i had a DJ... i am not a fan of bands at weddings, i never dance as much as when theres a DJ. I also hate other peoples versions of songs... i prefere the original

I am definitely all about the DJ. Not that I don't like bands at weddings, but I would much rather here the original version of a song that the band doing a cover (just my preference)

Definitely DJ. You will waste all that money on a live band and most of the time people do not want to hear other people sing songs they like and are used to hearing by the actual artist.

Lots of factors play into this. I am using a DJ for two reasons: cost and space...I am having a smaller size room and a small wedding 75 ppl..I don't have enough room for a band and don't need to spend that much when my wedding is on a smaller side. I have been to weddings with both, and have enjoyed both. Figure out your wedding budget and find your RH and see what works best for you...

I prefer DJ's and that's what we're going with. Unless the band is awesome, I really don't enjoy the music as much and awesome bands know they are awesome and charge a ridiculous amount of money!

my fiance and i are going with a dj, but we're also adding some live musicians to mix things up. i think it really comes down to your budget. there is a HUGE price difference between a band and a dj.

We had a DJ. Bands are more expensive, need more breaks, and you have to pay to feed more people. Plus you can have a greater variety of music using a DJ.

100% agreed. We used Code Bleu and people were amazed. We all had such a blast. DH and I tried to make our 'rounds' but no one was at their tables all night!!! There's something about live music that in my opinion, can't be beat, so for me it wasn't even an option. However, a good DJ is a million times better than a bad band. So you need to find an awesome band if you decide to go with one. I definitely HIGHLY recommend Code Bleu.

They are more expensive, but the other parts I don't agree with. All the songs we requested were played by our band, and sounded exactly like the original, it was crazy. They even learned a Sicilian song for my dad and me and no one in the band was Sicilian. As for taking breaks, mine didn't take a single one. During our appetizer, a few took a break to eat while the others did light 'dinner' music, then they switched for main courses. And honestly I never even noticed, but I was told it later on.

i'm having a band..but I agree with what you girls are saying..it really depends on the size of your party and yoru budget. If you are having a small wedding...save your money as so many dj's are awesome too!

I am surprised...i saw them at their showcase and walked out 20 mins into it....not to sound like a *** but they need a younger lead female singer. In their case i would much rather have a dj.

I know this is a totally personal decision but there was no question we were going with a band. To me, there is nothing like LIVE music to set the tone for an affair. And, if you do your research you'll find plenty of amazing bands who can recreate your favorite songs- or sound even better!

we went with a DJ....
we were going to go with a band at first, but the fact taht we need Italian, American and Greek music played was a bit difficult. If we were to get a greek/american band, we needed to bring in live Italian singers/performers and we were totally getting up over 10k. That wasn't happening so we wound up with a DJ who can play both the Italian, Greek and American music for our guests.
