Band vs DJ

Sorry for all the posts, but I figured we should keep our board active!

When I was younger I always wanted a band because I thought they were so elegant. Unfortuantely our budget does have any room for a band. So we are going to have a DJ, but we're excited to have a DJ that can play any genre of music I want.

Hey, I'm crashing!!

I always wanted a DJ. Then I saw PAris play and HAD to have them. BUT they were so expensive, so we had to settle for a DJ

WE love BRavura though and we worked some live elements into the mix so it's going to work out perfectly and not bust our budget for the day. I'm very excited!!

I always wanted a band as well, but it would destroy our budget

Since then I heard about this live dj-ing thing where they incorporate certain instruments such as drums or guitars.. I still have to go look into it but it sounds interesting!

We're having a live singer on keys to play with the DJ and during some of the courses... they also offered percussion, guitar and sax, but we didn't want any of that.

We are having a band.... I always wanted one whenever I thought of my wedding and we just figured that we will try and cut back in other areas that aren't as important to us (basically all the paper goods stuff---super fancy invitations, save the dates, programs, etc) We will just do basic, but nice, paper goods because honestly, people just throw them out in the garbage. HTH!!

If you want a band feel add some live musicians like a percussionist ect. I always wanted a DJ for the fact I want the original version of a song. Good Luck!!!!

I love the band idea, b/c I absolutely looooove live music! But, I can't budget for it right now. Maybe a little later, I can pull from someplace else but for now, DJ!

we got a band and it wasn't as expensive as some of the other bands. fm me for info if you want it, could end up being same price for DJ with some live stuff

I booked bravura too, def check them out.
We have a singer and steel drum band for the cocktail hour..
then set up in front of the dj booth there is a singer, keyboard, percussionist and sax.

We booked a band, Soul Revival , and love them. For FH and I, live music was really important. We go to a lot of concerts and wanted a similar feel for our reception. Plus, I like how the band interprets some of the songs. However, I have been to weddings with DJ's that are really good too, especially some of the club type DJ's from Manhattan.

I've never been to a wedding with a club like mahnattan Dj and it sounds like it would be amazing! Thanks for the idea.

We had this same debate, since a DJ is less expensive, but we felt that every wedding we have been to with a good band has been AMAZING. It's just something different about the atmosphere of the whole thing. It's another personal preference, we are huge fans of live music so maybe that's why we like bands so much better.

We decided that if we were to fit a band into our budget, we would need to cut back on other parts of our wedding that aren't as important to us... for example, flowers. I would rather pay less for simple flower arrangements and have more to spend on entertainment!
