bands

does anyone else feel like they are too picky for a band??? i want one.. but i feel like none of them meet my expectations.

I felt that way, but I finally found a band I LOVE. We looked forever and wound up booking a band not from LI.

It's such a personal choice. Keep looking, and I'm sure you'll find one.

We're having a problem because most showcases are out on LI and we are in Jersey City, so it's tough for us to go listen to them to even choose one!

Check out www.platinumbandmusic.com -- Our band is based out of NJ and their showcases are in NJ. They'll do weddings on LI, though!

I feel like bands are hit or miss..... some songs they are great and others you want to cover your ears... Tough choice for sure

Definitely ask them to send you their packet with the DVD. As with all bands, it sounds much better than the audio on their site. The band leader is an absolute DOLL to work with, too! Tell her Kara & Todd recommended them!

Most bands have DVDs that they will send you... I would call a few ask them to send you their DVDs and if you like what you hear you can make the trip to see them in person....

I felt the same way....plus we needed a band that was able to play or learn Portuguese music (fh is Portuguese) so that made it tougher too. It feels as though we went to see every band on LI plus one upstate and were totally disapointed. I went to see one band and LOVED them, then the 2nd time I went with fh and they were terrible! We FINALLY found the band Body and Soul (www.bodyandsoulband.net) and they were AWESOME!! I saw their DVD and then went to see they play twice. We booked them and I couldnt be happier! Def check them out. Hope this helps!

Oh my goodness, I thought that I was the only one that felt that way!! I am a total music snob

I hate the typical 'wedding band sound'. A lot of bands that people consider great, i don't like. I am going to check out Pete Moss and the Fertilizers. I used to see them regularly a couple of years ago, but now they have a new singer. If I like them, I will try to book them. If not, I am probably going to go with a DJ because then I know what I am getting. And my DJ will not have to work very hard b/c I know exactly what I want to hear (and exactly what I don't want to hear).

The band we got was AMAZING....info in my review. But being an entertainer myself (dancer and singer) I am definatly picky on talent. This band was fabulous!!!

DH and I were very picky about the band. We knew we didn't want a band that played 'typical' cheesy wedding music. We saw a bunch and didn't love anyone, until we saw Soul Revival. They were great and made our wedding amazing I would highly recommend them and they are so not the 'typical' wedding band. Soul Revival website HTH!!!!

They are good- but Arcadia is great too! That is their 'partner' band. We heard them both and loved them both but went with Arcadia. You can hear them on that website too!
