Bands

I was wondering how far in advance is the norm to book a wedding band. I am kind of stressing about it now (Wedding is May of 2014) because we want a band but really don't want to pay more than $6,000. I have quotes from a few which fit our budget but I don't know how far in advance I should book, any suggestions?

I booked mine already (for April 2014). I'm not sure when is a normal time to book, but in my opinion if you find someone you like and want, then the sooner the better!

Try After Hours! I think they're band is within your budget! I would definitely say book now! Sooner rather than later! I'm getting married 12/13/14 and I have my venue booked.. booking my DJ next week... and then my photographer will be booked by march!

I agree with Amanda1126 that you should book now if you want them. We booked the vendors we wanted like 2 years out because we didn't want to miss out

agreed!!! book as soon as you can!!! :) I've got everything done except music- the band i want is holding our date till their showcase and then i'll be booking! :)

I agree with everyone above - book your band (and photographer) ASAP! As soon as I had my venue booked and my date set, the next items on my to-do list were my officiant, photographer and DJ. For me, those things are important AND they can book up if someone else gets to them before you - I didn't want to have to 'settle' for the only people available.

Our DJ won't even discuss anything with us until March since we are so far out. It just makes me nervous that someone will get him before us!

was it the expo on Jan 6th??? We saw them there and thats when I decided I wanted Phil as my dj/mc! He was AWESOME!

I saw my band in May and they told me to give them a call end of the year. Well I contacted them again in August and somebody was already interested in my July 2014 date, so FH and I hurried to book them! So that was almost 2 years out. So if you know what you want and they're available, I'd book them ASAP!

Wow I thought I was crazy for wanting to book so quickly but I guess it really is a good idea. We are going to see a few showcases and the hopefully book within the next few weeks!! Thanks everyone!

My wedding is in June, 2014 and I booked a band around October, 2012 but FH and I just found out that the one we booked is no longer performing as a wedding band...

We sent in a couple of payments but thankfully they said they will give us a refund. I would have flipped out if they refused to give us our money back!

Really?! We booked our DJ in June 2012 for a Jan 2014 wedding. That's odd they are making you wait..

I agree with Amanda too, as soon as you have a date and place BOOK THEM!! or someone else will get your date. I booked with HEART AND SOUL, way under $6000 and they are giving a 10% for booking. They have a new web site Heartandsoulband.com. They played my cousins wedding and I knew I had to have them at mine!Good Luck to you!


I went to a wedding and they were the band.....they were great! I don't know if a band or DJ will be in our budget yet but if its a band we are definitely going to talk to them! : )

I'll be at the bridal show at Giorgio's, I can't wait to see them!! I've been looking for a reasonably priced band too!!
