Banks for joint accounts

Original post by steflily

What banks does everyone use for their wedding fund? We need a checking account with a check card but don't want to pay fees or have a minimum balance.

I've used the same bank all my life and I don't know what's out there. Please offer any suggestions you have.

ETA: Thanks!

If you live in Suffolk, try Teachers Federal Credit Union. No fees, really great service, online banking, etc. You have to be eligible--click here to see their requirements, which are actually pretty broad.

I second Teachers Federal Credit Union.

DITTO!! I have used many banks in my lifetime and have had the best experiences with TFCU...they also have free online banking which is great!

We have our acount with E-Trade. We have a high interest rate (like ING). We like it and have no problems with it.

I also have an ING savings account and love it. It's linked to my Astoria Federal checking account. I have a debit card and no fees. I have had this account for over 6 years and never had any problems.
