Nina, I was just posting what I thought of the toy, not what the parents were saying. I just see too many darn toys that are geared towards girls being such a sally homemaker, that's all. When was the last time they made a toy for boys, that had a KEN doll with a stroller and a briefcase

I think the Grand Theft Auto and other types of games are so out of control. When I was little, I played with Donkey Kong and Pacman! LOL Those games were so harmless.

Flame me for saying this, but I truly believe all of that violence desensitizes kids...Scary

Shamma, I know what you mean. We are still very much into defining gender roles. Now that I'm pregnant, I wonder if it's necessary to make sure that my boy wears blue or my girl wears pink (not that I would dress either one in the opposite color ;). Our society stresses the 'differences' from the moment we find out the sex of a baby and it goes on from there.

Teri, I won't flame you, I'm also not into encouring violence, no toy guns in my house (I guess I might get flamed too!)

Re: Here's an article from washingtonpost.com

I saw this grand theft auto game for the 1st time Friday night, I could not believe its geared towards children, I thought it was an adult game, my MOH has it. oh my then they wonder why our children carry guns to school or why the crime rate is so high. Teach them from they are young. I guess it is really up to the parents then on what they expose their children to.
