BBB Registry Question - Is this Normal VENT

I registered at BBB this weekend and was wondering if it is their policy that a bridal associate walk around with you while you register?

After the lady inputted my infor into the system she said that how they do it is that she walks around with me and scans my items so I don't have to worry about the item scanning wrong, or if I need to delete something, etc. I thought I was going to go there get the scanner and browse on my own. It was very uncomfortable and annoying. On top of that the lady kept making me feel bad for wanting a cheaper item and would say things like 'don't worry about prices, your not the one buying it' WHAT?!?

Did anyone else have this happen? Do all BBB do this or is it just the one I went to???

they asked if they wanted to walk around with us but we said no. there was no way i wanted someone to walk with us and put her opinions in the mix.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

I´m not 100% sure because I did mine on the internet (i live overseas) but from what I understand you´re experience was probably b.c of the person who was helping you. Usually (or at least in the cases of the people I know) you can choose for either somone to walk around with you and scan or to just do a quick walk-through of the store, give you a general idea, and then you scan yourself. the one you got was probably just particularly pushy.

If you ever feel uncomfortable with a situation, I would speak up. You are the one registering and you should do it the way you feel most comfortable. Look through your list and see if there is anything you want to change. You need to make sure that your registry reflects you, your tastes and want you want. Not that of some salesperson. Make any changes you need to.

No, that is really weird that she stayed with you the entire time. When I went the woman put us into the computer and everything, that went pretty quick. Then she showed us how to use the gun on the china. She then showed us the pots and pans, but left us alone after that.

I will say, however, that she was trying to 'sell' us the more expensive items. I even said at one point 'oh, that's too expensive' and she just said something like 'someone will buy it.' I bet they get some sort of commision.

This is what happened to us as well, but she did find us halfway through to give us bottles of water and ask how we were doing. She was great, actually. I wish I could remember her name. We registered at the one near Roosevelt Field.

I went through this same thing. The woman said she would scan a few things to show me how to use the gun. She ended up walking around with us for the entire time and scanned stuff i didnt even want. she annoyed us so much we told her we had to go just so we could leave. I went back and fixed it about 1 week later

I reg at Crate and Barral and macys they did not walk around with us but did check up on us to make sure everthing was okay which I liked. I will be reg at BBB and do not want anyone walking around with us I will tell them No

When we registered there, the woman tried to walk around with us. I told her no and she went away! She did find us after an hour and gave us a bag with water and snacks.

They did us to us and FH was getting pissy as she was walking w/ us because the only thing he was looking forward to was scanning stuff lol. So I told her we could do it ourselves thanks. Besides she was scanning things that I did NOT want! It was more about her selling us stuff then us getting what we wanted. Once she left us alone everything was fine and it was FH scanning things that we didnt need instead lol

It happened to us in the beginning and I found the lady to be obnoxious and annoying because they really do push things on you. So I basically told her to get lost.

no it did not happen to us. she started walking with us but we wanted to go alone so we told her and she was very nice and left us with the registry gun.

I was at the one in Westbury yesterday updating my registry with my mother and thought it was weird because I saw a sales associate walking around with a few couples.

When FH and I went the first time in Manhasset
they gave us our gun and sent us on our merry way!!

Nope we were by ourselves and FH hogged the gun. I would have hated if someone had done it for me, besides FH because thats half the fun of it.

No, I went with my sister and her best friend and we didn't have anyone follow us. Wow, can't believe they would just follow you around - that would soooo bother me.

When I registered the sales associate only went through some departments with us such as the china and cookware the rest we did on our own. She was very nice and super helpful (she was also a manager) I guess I lucked out? That is annoying that she was making rude comments about the price of products that you were registering for. Sorry you did not have a good experience.

No I don't think that they have to walk with you. When FH and I registered they just showed us how to quickly use the gun and then we were on our own.

They walked through with us too. It was nice when we were at the point of choosing our china and stemware (the categories I actually had questions about) but when it came to other things like cookware and accessories, I would have rather been on my own.

I work evenings at Macy's Wedding & Gift Registry department and we don't automatically walk around with brides and grooms unless they specifically ask. We do ask if they want a quick tour of the home store but don't stay with them the entire time unless they want us to.

The lady stayed with us the whole time at BOTH BBBs I went to--Manhasset and Roosevelt Field. I spared FH the second time around but I thought it was weird both times.

However, she didn't try to upsell us and did offer helpful tips like...better irons have more holes so that all the steam doesn't come out full blast and burn your clothes. Who knew?
