BC and skipping cycle

I know I should call my dr for this...but my sister said that I can skip my period if I start a new pack right after finishing the last 'active' pill.
I'm trying to do this so I won't get aunt flo while on vacation. Is this right? And do I continue to take the whole months worth like normal or stop once vacation is over? I really hate to play with mother nature but if it's harmless......

ETA: I'm on Ortho-tri-cyclen lo ....incase that makes a difference.

yes you can do that but, just check with oyur dr. first.

Yes, you can just keep taking them and finish the whole pack.. then when you get to your placebos again, obviously you'll get Aunt Flo. I only tried it once, and I actually spotted a little for a day or two, so be prepared for that!

I've been off it entirely since January and I feel soooo much better, I hated being on the pill.

ETA: I was on ortho tri-cyclen too, which I think is why I spotted (its a very low dose pill)

I am getting married on Saturday and my friend is due to arrive tomorrow, so on Sunday I just kept going with the new pack so that I did not have my period. You just proceed as normal. My doctor said it was fine to do every once and awhile but not to do it all the time.

I was on the same pill and also skipped for my wedding/honeymoon. But I didn't wait until I got to the fake pills to start the other pack. I started taking the new pill pack as I was finishing the last week of the old pill pack. So I overlapped them by a week. Since I was on the lo I didn't want to take any chances and things worked out fine : ).

I've done it before, for my wedding also. You might spot for a few days, but its worth not having it for your honeymoon.

I have done it a few times and have had no problems. The only bad thing for me when I do this, is after I finish the 2nd pack, I get a really heavy and very crampy pd.

I'm on the same pill and have done this a few times...it's does work, but I also make up for it in the next period...muchos crampos!!

I've done that several times and it does work (I'm also on Ortho Tricyclen Lo), however, EVERY time I did that, it screwed up my cycle for about 3 months. I didn't get my period for 2 months (even when i finally took the placebos after teh 2nd month).
