Beach Wedding...Please Help

Beach Wedding...Please Help

Hi,

I really need some help. My fiancé and I are looking to get married on the water, preferably on the Ocean, on Long Island or NJ shore(2nd choice). My dream is to have a tent wedding on the ocean actually but I am not sure if laws in NY even allow that (the alcohol/ocean thing)? We have no idea where to begin. Everything in the bridal magazines refer to catering halls only, we are looking for an alternative. I am not so big into the organized catering establishments(catering halls). I would prefer to find a beach location or a small hotel on the ocean and bring in catering or something like that. Maybe rent a private home or mansion on the water. We do not yet have a date set yet, we are thinking June 2005 but are open. We are not religious so we will have the ceremony at the reception site. The wedding will be about 250 people. I want it to be classy, fun and unstuffy. Formal-ish with no shoes. Something like that. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You, Rachel

Well, I always see hampton beach weddings (in magazines), so it can be done. Elegant Eating in Smithtown does catering and they rent tables, chairs, linens, etc. tents, dance floors, etc. www.eleganteating.com
when i was going to do something more casual, i was going to use them. try some beach front hotels. Gurneys in Montauk, does them. That is an awesome idea! There is a restuarant in Northport, called La Casa, that is right on CrabMeadow beach. You can also look into harbor/yacht clubs. I don't know your budget, but it can be done. I wanted that too, but i had too many what-ifs. Much Luck and have fun!

Try to book at a place on the North Shore, or in New Rochelle.. Actually.. in New Rochelle, there's a strip of mansions that are located on or near a small beach overlooking LI sound. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for.. but it's something that you can consider.

Good Luck in your search!

I was going to get married @ Atlantica, but it wasn't big enough for us.

What about Gurney's or Crescent Beach Club

Thanks for the advice. Cresent Beach club was a possibility but when I called the guy was so rude and kept up-ing the price every minute I was on the phone with him. It would end up costing around $200 a head for a Saturday night wedding and to me, that is just rediculos to spend on one night for that many people. He left the worst taste in my mouth as far as catering halls are concerned. I will check out Gurneys.

You can also try The Pavillion at Sunken Meadow Beach. Lessings caters there. Here is the website. http://www.lessing.com/pavilion.htm It is on the Long ISland Sound right by my house.
You can have the cocktail hour or the whole thing right on the boardwalk. There is also a room with glass windows if you want to have it inside. Heres a pic.
