how difficult was it to find a dress that wasn't strapless? i really don't like the way strapless gowns look on me.

It wasn't hard at all. I don't like how strapless gowns look on me either. I went to Village Bridal and Boutique in Babylon Village and let me tell you the selection was HUGE. They do have a lot of gowns that aren't strapless. I am so happy for that.

I've seen them recommended a couple of times by plus size brides. thinking i need to check them out.

So when i got engaged I wanted a dress with sleeves because I felt like 'I'm big with linebacker arms' Well I went out trying dresses and every and any dress with arms and they all looked HORRIBLE on me!!! If anything they accentuated the part that I wanted to hide the most. I tried on some strapless dresses and while I was self-concious about my arms and back I looked sooo much better in them. I finally found a solution which was a shrug. So I'm wearing a strapless dress with a shrug to camoflouge my hefty arms. It looks perfect together.

Def. keep an open mind when going out to look for dresses, once I opened up and tried on something that I didn't think would look good on me...i was surprised.

Here is a pic of my dress:



I'll post pics of me at my first trial 11/5 after....I won't have the shrug yet...so you ladies will have to see my ugly arms...but that's ok

I'm a little slow in seeing this..but this is great...
my dress is from The Bridal World in Baldwin....they had many plus sizes to choose from.
My dress is an Off the shoulder but I HAD TO HAVE sleeves so the seamstress there found a way to add sleeves for me. She had never done sleeves on an off the shoulder before. I thought it looked fine and I was much more comfortable. I could have NEVER worn a strapless dress or a dress where my arms showed.

By the way, I am looking to give away a small size 22 black evening gown.(It's a small bridal store size and it was taken in a bit-I wore a 16 when I got it)
I only wore it once, it was given to me when I mc'ed a charity event. I thought it was too nice to toss in the charity bag...it might make a nice MOB gown for someone.

I love the top.

thank you! it of course is one peice... it had a detachable train but I bustled it after the ceremony instead. It's a Demetrios dress
