I had just finished registering my son for elementary school and was driving down the block when I saw a puff of white smoke come from the house behind the one I was driving past. It didn't look right, so I turned around and saw more smoke then realized that I saw a few flames too.
No one was around! No cops, fire trucks, people, nothing!
I immediately called 911 to report it. 5 minutes later, there's still no one around but there were cars in the neighboring driveways. I started banging on peoples doors since the fire was spreading quickly and looked like it was getting close to the other fences.
Finally, the neighbors start coming out, they had no idea! Eventually the fire department got there and by this time I had to leave since I was way late for work.
But, apparently the man got out okay just before the fire department arrived. I don't know how much damage was done, but I can't help but think that if I hadn't driven past when I did and called it in right away, it could have been much worse!
