being with fh since childhood

being with fh since childhood

Has anybody else been with their FH since they were kids?

FH and I have been together since we were 16. We're now 23. I had the strangest moment tonight. For most of our relationship, I have thought of FH as a 'boy.' Not in a bad way, just, hey we were kids, right! So, he wasn't a man yet, and I knew that.

I realized tonight that I now think of him as a man. I don't know when this transition happened or why, but it did. Isn't that strange?

Can anybody else relate? If you have known each other since you were kids, when did you start seeing him as an adult?

I can totally relate....I was 17 and FH was 19....when he left in his uniform just now for work I felt the same way....he's all grown up!

in uniform? What does he do, just out of curiosity?

and isn't it just the strangest feeling ever, to suddenly think of him that way?

I understand what you mean. I always tell my FH that I liked the boy he was but fell in love with the man he is today. We both grew up over the years. I find it like an old fashioned romance. Stuff our grandparents talk about. Over the years I have understood ultimatly what is to be someone's best friend. It takes years to develop. I can say whole heartedly that he is my soulmate. I feel us dating as children helped us become the people we are today.

He's a cop and he works midnight to 8am, but yesterday they gave him a different shift that wasn't in his precinct, so that's why he brought home his uniform and wore it to work tonight when he left....I was like, dang, we're getting old!!

yes

we met when I was 14... and started dating when I was 15-ish... He's 4 years older, but I always feel like while others around us were growing apart, we were growing up together.

he's really my BEST friend...we can talk about ANYTHING from the silliest things to the most serious. we've definitely been through a lot together... and i feel like this is why i'm so emotional about our wedding... because i've waited so long for this moment, and you never think that great things will happen to you... but they do

hayley, this is beautiful! FH & I went to jr high & high school together (we are 27 now). I laugh everytime I think of him back then with his little mushroom haircut I can relate about the wedding being so emotional. We grew up together and we have become adults together. It's just amazing to think how after all of these years we are finally going to be our own family.

I feel the same way. We have been together since I was 15 and my FH was 16. I defenitley know how you feel with the whole 'boy to man' thing because I looked at my FH as if he was still 16 until he became a police officer. That was strange because all of a sudden he had this serious adult job and I still looked at him the same way I did in high school.

Want to hear something weird? My FH and I were born a month a part. Our mother's had the same gynecologist and we had the same pediatrician. Weird, on whole bunch of levels!

I was 14 and FH was 17 when we met. It's funny because we went to our tasting last night with our rents and it just hit them that we've known each other for so long. We dated off and on until 2 years ago.

I was 15 and FH was 17 when we first got together, now I'm 23 and FH is 26. Time has flown over these past 8 1/2 years-I remember seeing him for the first time-I still to this day have never seen a more gorgeous man. He was and is still perfect. I can't remember exactly when I started seeing Joe as a man instead of a teenager. Maybe it was the first time I saw him drive, or when he told me we would be getting married some day. Maybe it was when I saw him holding his little brother at his father's funeral or maybe doing work on his house for his mom. I can't say exactly when, but I can say that each of these moments reinforced me knowig that I would be with him for the rest of our lives.

I was 15 and he was 18 when we started going out. We've been together 7 years and I can't stop thinking of him as my boyfriend now that he is my husband!
