best caribbean beaches

fh and i are trying to book a trip to the caribbean for february. which places have the best beaches for swimming? when i go away i like white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, and most of the reviews i've read say that the rocks are too thick for swimming.

I can't remember the name of the beach we went to in St. Thomas, Coki sounds familiar but I just might be recognizing the name because I did some research..but I can say that the water in St. Thomas is absolutely breathtaking!!! We also went to Tortola - also beautiful!!

You are going to fall in love. FH and I went there this past May and we said this is where we want to have our honeymoon. Ironically, its where he bought my engagemet ring too!

hey, thanks guys we've been looking into punta cana, so i feel better about it now that i know the beaches are nice. anybody who's been there have resorts they recommend? i heard in DR you should book a really good resort bc it's not safe to go outside the hotel. true?

its not that its not safe...its that the people in the market place try to sell you stuff...some tourists don't like that.

the first time my family went there we went to the punta cana princess. it was beyond amazing. the food was great, it wasnt huge so you werent overcrowded. they turned it into a couples only resort so my family hasnt been back, but i do highly recommend that. my family also has gone to the caribe club princess. its the same chain as the punta cana princess, but a family hotel. for the price it is nice and id go back but beware they are A LOT of french at this hotel, and they can be quite rude. we had people at the resturants take food off of hands.

if my family goes back their year we are looking into the occidental, or allegro. we talked to people while on vacation staying at those and they said if they returned without a doubt it would be there.

i hope i helped a bit! if you have any questions feel free to send me fm. ive done so much research on it for my familys vacations.

Re: best caribbean beaches

im half dominican, and everyone in DR could tell i was dominican, and i still wouldnt go outside the resort area without a native of the island myself...its dangerous, but i wouldnt do that on any island, be it jamacia, aruba, wherever....iam nervous about things like that. when i go to DR i go outside the hotels with my mother or grandmother or a relative from there. when you go to punta cana theres no reason to leave the resort anyway, theyre all inclusive and offer soooooo much!!! if you do outside the resort , you can go on excursions!
