How did your FH choose his best man? My FH is having a tough time picking just one friend. Any advice to pass on to him?

Re: Best Man Question
My FI was having a tough time deciding between 2 guys for his best man (he has no brothers). It came down to his best friend during his entire childhood and his best friend now. He went with his best friend NOW for a few reasons.

Re: Best Man Question
fh is having his brother- his best friend too- but if his brother wasnt around he would pick the person he forsees being friends with forever, not necesarily the one who is the best partier, and a here and now kind of friend, but someone who is truly his best friend

Re: Best Man Question
Thanks ladies. His brother isn't in the bp (which is for the best). All of the guys in the bp are longtime friends. He has basically had the same group of friends since high school. They are all awesome, but he doesn't want to hurt anyones feelings by not choosing them.
Any thoughts?

Re: Best Man Question
There is usually one guy who he would speak to just a little more often, or who he confides in a little more, or the first one he would pick up if he was going out with everyone. Honestly, the group usually knows who are just a little more tighter, it just usually doesn't make a difference. It can be a hard choice, but if they are all buddies, there should not be hard feelings.

Re: Best Man Question
The fact that he calls him his brother and hes not, qualified him to be the BM.

Re: Best Man Question
My FI is having a tough time with this too. He wants to ask his uncle, but he's afraid if he does his bro will give him a hard time and he doesn't want to hear it. I say, go with who you feel most comfortable and don't worry about the short-term consequences. It should be someone that has and always will be there for you.

Re: Best Man Question
my FI had the same thing... hes an only child so he was trying to pick between 2 long time friends to be his best man.... so heres what he did.... LOL you won't beleive it but he had a 'contest' LOL... one of the guys likes planes, and the other one is into guns/hunting, etc... SOOO FI got the one who is into planes to make 2 paper airplanes and marked each one with one of the 'contenders' inititals. FI then threw them to see whos went furthest... THEN he had the one who's into guns get him 2 USED bullets ( the shells) and threw each of them to see whos went furthest... the tie breaker was a poker game one night- LOL LOL now your FI might not be a nutjob like mine... but it was literally the only way we could get FI to decide... it got to the point where even the two 'contenders' were bugging him about it... LOL.. and it really did work out for the best because the guy who 'won' is sooo super organized and really on top of things with writing the toast and doing the bachelor party GOOD LUCK!!

Re: Best Man Question
My FI picked his good friend. They have been through alot together. He's the friend that he confides in and they have a strong bond as if they were brothers. FI doesn't have a brother so this is the closest person to a brother that is in his life. So, I think he made a great choice.
Edited because I wanted to answer your question. The best advice I can give your FI would be that he should pick the person he feels the closest too. The person that he can see in his life yrs and yrs from now. He may have many close friends but there has to be one that he feels a stronger bond than the others. He should give it some thought then choose. Good Luck!!!!!!

Re: Best Man Question
I agree that even though they may all be close, there is probably someone who is the person he thinks of FIRST....that should be his BM....the one he thinks of without thinking...
alternatively, if they are all equal in stature and esteem with your FH, he can call them all groomsmen and divide the BM duties up equally between them...or call them his Best MEN....

Re: Best Man Question
My FH picked his best friend ....and how we came to that decision is because he has two brothers ....there both younger and both look up to him very much - I knew that if he picked on the other would be very hurt! So I told him you ask both of them or you just have the two on them as GM - his best friend greg was there the night that we met ...it was a no brainer ...as a matter of fact I called him the night that Mike asked me to marry him!
