best vacuum under $200?

don't really have a clue about vacuums....FH wants to put the $400 Dyson on the registry, lol... but I want to be realistic here, I know we won't get that. What's the best vacuum in the under $200 price range??

TIA

Re: best vacuum under $200?

why couldn't you get the Dyson? Maybe a few of your relatives can all chip in or I've heard a lot of bridal parties just all chip in to buy one big item....
A registry si the only time in your life when you can make a wish list that you will probably get most of it! Just put it on and see what happens!!!
XOXOXO
Kitty

Re: best vacuum under $200?

we are both just starting out after school and literally need EVERYTHING ... so i know people will chip in, etc... for our glasses and pots/luggage/comforter set, etc... but I don't want to put another really big ticket item on the list when we need so much other 'smaller' stuff, too... does that make sense?

I know we need a good vacuum, but I'm sure there are great things that aren't $400

Re: best vacuum under $200?

I would register for the dyson if you don't get it then you can get a cheaper one for the time being but a good vaccumm will last alot longer than the inexpensive ones - you will save money in the long run by spluring now.

Re: best vacuum under $200?

Is a $200 vacuum really considered 'cheap'?

We registered for the Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright, I think it was $169 at BB&B.

I have returned many vacuums under $200 in my life. Not worth it. Register for the Dyson.

Re: best vacuum under $200?

We got a Eureka Opitma Lightweight and so far so good (although we've only used it a few times since we got it). It's cute and green and very lightweight and the handle goes down for storage so it fits anywhere. Also, it's only about $60.

Re: best vacuum under $200?

i work for a vac company. i won't say which one. But hoover wind tunnel is ranked the best from our tests. And no I don't work for hoover. And btw the dyson really does lose suction after 3 months.

we've had our Dyson for over a year and we use it a lot! it works just as well as it did the 1st time we used it. IMO, it was a very worthwile inevstment. not only does it clean better than anything I used before, but it's also the best for my DH's allergies.

Re: best vacuum under $200?

which is better: the hoover upright or cannister wind tunnel? That's one of two things I forgot to register for (the other is luggage).

Thanks!
