Better Business Bureau
Hello,Has anyone booked a vendor that has had a few 'marks' with the BBB? My photographer has had 3 complaints. I am still going to book him. Even places like East WInd has had markings.... I think it's just because us brides can be very picky.... what do you think? Please help. I'm booking our photographer tonight! Help!

Re: Better Business Bureau
You're right there is no way everyone is going to be happy, but I think it's more important that the vendor responds to complaints.

Re: Better Business Bureau
PERSONALLY, I would not feel comfortable with someone who has a poor record with BBB. But if you feel like you get a good feeling from this person, I guess it's a chance you are willing to take. JMO.

Re: Better Business Bureau
I think the BBB only covers the last 3 years. I would take into consideration the amount of complaints and how they handled them. For example, I wouldn't hold 2 complaints in 3 years against them. Go with your gut!

Re: Better Business Bureau
The only reason why this would make me a bit uneasy is b/c most (i use that term loosely) try to work things out with the vendor before contacting the BBB. Before you put in a complaint the BBB tells you to contact the person first before making an official complaint. Question your vendor about it and see how he/she explains it. Good luck!
ETA: They also state if the person responded and some will say there was an outcome/resolution but the customer remains disatisfied. Those you should look out for.

all I can say is from my experience and aggravation, if I could do it again, I would not have booked with someone that had BBB complaints . . .

Re: Better Business Bureau
IMO...i wouldn't.To get a few marks is a big deal IMO and i think that you should think really hard about what is important to you. The fact that this potential vender could do a not so good job to the point that they have a 'few marks', if that doesn't worry you. Then go for it. But otherwise i would do more research on them here or on other sites to get more feedback

Re: Better Business Bureau
I don't think just because someone complained means that they are bad. People complains about everything. Just go with your gut feelings. I would if I really wanted this person

Re: Better Business Bureau
I would ask exactly what the BBB marks were for to the vendor before signing. We are using one vendor who has one mark against them for 'sales' or something under the sale category. We asked and they showed us the documentation and what the complaint was about. It ended up being ok with us.The BBB takes complaints very seriously, they have to research and prove it to be a truthful complaint before they will even ACCEPT it...so that makes me question anyone with any marks...That means the BBB thought it was a truthful complaint...Its not just anyone on there filing complaints as they see fit.

I don't know why but my quote feature isn't working.
Very True! Very True! What I meant to say was that people have problems with different things then other people would and you should investigate the complaints further and if you like the vendor go with your feeling.
