I just got this email from my friend- this is SO SCARY! I emailed them to unsubscribe and just handwrote a letter.
The only cool feature is you can find some balsts from your past but they can find you too as well as freaks! Just had to share this: I am adding the link to the bottom of the page- so you can check on your selves and loved ones.
Beginning this month (May '05) a new database will be available to the general public, free of charge, that displays your personal information (names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates). The database is found at www.zabasearch.com. I urge you to forward this email to family and friends. Check to see if your name and information is in their database. If so and you want it removed, send them an e-mail at [email protected] to request it be removed. I do not know how our names are appearing there, but I checked my own and a few other random ones, and they are all in this database!

There have always been sites that can give your address and phone number and provide background checks. This is nothing new.
ETA: usually there are separate sites for contact info and background checks, but you have always been able to pay to do a background check on someone.

I have never seen one like this- so detailed. I haven't had a listed phone # ever. They have EVERYTHING

I am guessing the info they receive is from the telephone company. If your number was ever listed, it's going to show up in their database. I looked myself up and I found 7 listings for myself, all from old addresses where I had a telephone in my name and the number was listed.
The only thing I found strange was one of the listings, it was my old address, but the middle initial was wrong, and the DOB was wrong!! It listed all the telephone numbers I had, luckily none of them can be traced to me right now!!
This same information can be found on any number of websites that sllow you to lookup a person. So unfortunately, as scary as this is, it's a pretty common thing.

That's really annoying if you don't have a listed number. My old one is listed, and that comes up, but my new address and number don't!

Its really not that big of a deal. They dont have any numbers on there that aren't listed.
All this site does is go to other sites that have public records of you and does all the searching work.
If somebody wants to get info on somebody... it can easily be done even without websites like this.

I rechecked it- they don't have my phone # there but my birthdate and my name & address & previous address. I just don't know how they've gotten have all of this info.
ETA-Does anyone know how they get all this info????

And I think people are only seeing the negatives of this site.
I have some long lost family members that we have been trying to locate. This site gave me some information on them. Probably old... but you never know.

Here is your answer... just a FYI.
Where does the government keep our data? In many places: court records, county property records, state records. And this information becomes publicly available after you buy a new house, or go to the post office and file a change-of-address form.

Also, if you put your phone number with area code into google, you can search people that way too! I know that there are other sites like this, but sometimes they are WAY too accessible.

Should I be concerned that 7 out of the 8 including my middle name are correct . Theres one that has a NJ address and I never lived there. All other 7 are correct.
Who exaclty do you mail that to? Can we email them a request?

For $14.95 we found out everything we needed to know about someone just from her cellphone #. From a cell # we got address, home phone,age, convictions, spouse, etc etc

exactly! this has been going on for a really long time. This is the only site. There are so many now.
