i finally picked a bridesmaids dress that makes me & my girls happy. this is Lazaro 3979. the dress was in black when my girls tried it on so i just picked it, in that color. when i mentioned to FH about the girls wearing a black dress he was less then thrilled, saying that black is morbid for a wedding. i feel that its very classy.
however, as you can see its shown in this picture in brown & now i don't know which color to pick.
my other concern is how will the girls in brown look next to the guys in a black tux?
I was just in a wedding and we wore chocolate brown, it looked fine.

I think black is VERY classy, but if FH is dead set against that, what about a dark charcoal if you're worried about it clashing with the black? I'm not a big black and brown person, but I think it would be fine!

I think it would look fine, but if you are worried you could go with brown tuxes for the guys. :)

That is a gorgeous dress!!! I am having black BM dresses and it's not morbid, I definitely agree that it is classy (plus no one minds wearing black!!!) but if you decide to go with the chocolate brown I don't think it would look bad at all! A lot of people are doing that color now!

I think either way will really work... honestly, I think black & brown look fine together, and I think in general, it's becomming more 'in' or 'acceptable' or whatnot.
I don't think black is morbid for a wedding, but I also don't think the brown will look bad next to black tuxes. I'd go w/ the color you like more

Re: beyond confused - advice needed!!!!!
I was a BM in a friends wedding in July... the dresses were black, and y it looked really classy. However, some people thought it wasnt suitable for july... I dunno...Also, think about it this way, if you have BM's with various skin tones, it will look great on anyone
I added some pics so you can get an idea.. I know its not brown though..
I think brown look great with a black tux but have the guys wear ivory underneath rather than brown...

If your Fh is really bothered by it I would definitely change the color. Guys are usually not picky so if they have one request I say fulfill it. I love the brown but if your not happy with it why not go with maybe a plum or something else dark/?

Re: beyond confused - advice needed!!!!!
I was kinda in this same situation before I picked my BM dresses I knew I wanted plum but the dress that I almost went with I didn't like the shade of plum that the designer had but I really liked it in the chocolate brown color....personally for me and this is just my opinion I didn't end up going with that dress or designer because I hate brown and black together and I didn't want to have black BM dresses I wanted something to brighten things up. Needless to say I found a BM dress that I absolutely lovvvvvveeee and the plum color was perfect, so maybe you can do a deep color like that. Good luck!!

Im having a little bit of second thought too on my BM colors..I think brown would be more nice for a wedding and the brown is so rich.

Re: beyond confused - advice needed!!!!!
I see you are getting married in April which is the prime of Spring..I really think you could pic a color that is more vibrant for that time of year...I had this issue too. I almost picked a dress that was black but my wedding is n June and just felt that it wouldn't work...
The dress is a Lazaro and it looks satin...I know for a fact that there are a lot of colors in that particular swatch that u can choose so I would suggest picking a different color...
...I just took a look at your invites and on my screen it looked like you are doing chocolate brown and powder blue? If that's ur scheme then y not try their 'ice blue' color. If not, stick with the chocolate brown but I think the ice blue with the chocolate brown sash will look beautiful!!

Re: beyond confused - advice needed!!!!!
i think either color would look great.....just two weeks ago i wore brown in a wedding, and we looked fine next to the black tuxes....and in my wedding the girls are wearing black, i think it looks so classy....actually a girl just posted a review of her wedding at the ritz carlton, she had black bm dresses, it looked so chic and elegant.

Re: beyond confused - advice needed!!!!!
Somebody recently posted pics of their wedding with black BM dresses and hot pink bouquets and I think it looked GORGEOUS!!!! IMO, the only thing I don't like about black BM dresses is that if they're not holding their bouquet, you can't always tell a BM from any other guest at the wedding.... As for the brown, I wore a brown BM dress in a wedding last year and i'm wearing brown again for a wedding next month....I love the richness of the chocolte brown and think it looks fine with the black... hope this helps
