Beyond Excited!

Beyond Excited!

As some of you may know FH and i were going to get married at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum and have a simple reception at a local VFW hall. After doing a lot of research we've come to realize that doing it this way with the amount of people we have (125) is just not feasible. We'd be lucky to save $3000 and the amount of stress and aggravation on us to get things done would be ridiculous. SOOOOOOOOO after speaking with my parents (we originally were going to pay for our own wedding) they agreed to help us pay for half of our wedding! I am so excited to get married in a reception hall with everything we could want and more.

So now comes the hunt. We are still on a limited budget (who isn't these days) so I'm wondering where to start. Hoping for 60 to 75 per person (less would be great) and a place that will allow me to use my own photog. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Been flying blind this whole time and I want to make sure I do this right. We are looking at Mediterranean Manor Sunday to start but don't want to settle on our first look through.

TIA

WHOOOHOO that's great news! Congratulations! the Milleridge Carriage House is in your budget, and so is Fox Hollow. I was quoted just above 75pp for my April wedding. In fact, a lot of more well known RHs here should fit your budget... Chateau Briand, Crest Hollow Country Club, etc. I only looked at 2 other places which were higher than that for April (Westbury Manor and Jericho Terrace) but in the 'off' season SEVERAL of the halls will work with you on price.

GOOD LUCK. Happy RH shopping, it's exciting, and fun!!

The date is a big thing for FH and I. We love that date and will do all we can to keep it. Even if its a Saturday afternoon wedding I'd be happy. Plus we have a lot of OOT people coming and think a Saturday would be best for that.

Don't worry, will try my best to stay your date twin

If your willing to do a Sat afternoon, I don't think you should have a problem. Take a look at Bellport Country Club, Mediterrean Manor, Sunset Harbor, there's lots of places on the south shore near Baynard so you could even do pics there still.

Re: Beyond Excited!

we were quoted $70 for an afternoon wedding at the Swan Club. I know that the Lessings RH have very reasonable prices but they just weren't for me.

These are actually all on my list so far. Also looking at West Lake. Definitely want to take pre-wedding pictures so I'm definitely focusing my search in that area. Want a place that offers a ceremony location as well. I have 20 RHs on my list.....gotta figure out how to narrow them down.

Do RHs give quotes over the phone?

some give basic prices ranges over the phone, some give quotes over the phone and others wont even talk to you unless you go in to speak with them lol.

I am going to mediterranian manor in a month for a wedding, I will let you know how the food is and everything.

Re: Beyond Excited!

The places in Nassau like Fox Hollow look gorgeous, but FH really wants to stay in Suffolk and I can understand that. Easier for his family who are coming on the Port Jeff Ferry from CT.

This is so much fun looking things up on line and making up my plan of attack.

If you are visiting more than one RH in a day, how much time did you allow yourself at each place? 1 hour? 2? Hoping to set up 2 for Sunday but don't want to be late to the 2nd one.

Thanks!

Yay!!

Everyone has great suggestions, I would also suggest Caffe on the Green in Bayside, It has a nice view of the Throgs Neck Bridge and has places for pics near by that with no fees! Good luck with your search
