BID HELPPP!!!!

We found a home for sale by owner and we want to place a bid - do we need a real estate agent, lawyer, can we do it ourselves, should we put it in writing, what do we do?????

You can get a 'buyer's agent' - the agent we worked with at ReMax is called a buyer's agent.

You could do one of two things, sign up with a RE Agent as a buyers' broker and they would then work on your behalf as far as making the initial offer, negotiating for you, and seeing the deal through (keeping the process going) or you could make the offer yourself, in writing is best, negotiating yourselves, and getting the engineer in, attorneys reviewing contract. Either way, you must get yourself an attorney if you don't have one. I work as a buyers' agent and the first question I ask the buyers is whether they have a good attorney that can move fast. That will be imperative in this market!

I would recommend Joe Seagel of Plainview. He is a friend of FH's and did our closing for us. He is strickly only for Realistate. I don't have the # on hand, but can be looked up in the phone book.

if it is through the owner you can definitely bid on your own - but once you and teh owner come into agreement get yourself an attorney- because his lawyer is going to draw up the contract and have to forward it to your attorney for review.

Do you have an attorney? Where are you - FH does real estate and is in Queens.

Since it is a for sale by owner, you can make an offer on the house directly to the seller- if you're comfortable doing so. You can give them a verbal offer - if they want a written offer- you can send them one.
