Birth control?
I would look into planned parenthood, they offer affordable services and may be able to be better with that price for the iud.I'm on the mini-pill and there is one horomone (progesterone) as opposed to two. I was having a bad time with the birth controls that have estrogen in them, so I've been on this for about 4 yrs now. I've always debated non-hormonal iud, just haven't gotten serious about it.

The mini-pill contains progestin, but not estrogen. Might not be the case for everyone, but migraine sufferers usually react to the estrogen, not the progestin It's allegedly just as effective as the combination pill but you need to take it at the EXACT same time every day.I've heard of women who haven't had children use IUDs and love it, but I would definitely do a TON of research before going about it. There's also something called Implanon, which is inserted in the inner portion of the upper arm and lasts for 3 years. It releases teeny tiny doses of progestin daily and is supposedly great. I'm a pill girl myself, but if I couldn't take estrogen that's probably what I would use. The pain of IUD insertion scares me!

Birth control?
So funny that this was posted, I'm going to the gyno next week to specifically ask about an iud!And also, it's my understanding that IUDs suggestion of having children first has nothing to do with your chances of getting pregnant once removed

Birth control?
I have PCOS and hormonal issues. Every time I go on birth control it regulates me really well, but every time I go off of it, my hormonal issues seem to be worse than they were before.I stopped taking birth control 2 years ago and only recently have I been starting to regulate myself hormonally naturally. We see kids in our '3 year plan', so I want to make sure I am fertile and healthy.
We have been using condoms. It is very important to me that I don't get pregnant right now, so we have been super careful. We have had moments where we were tempted not to use them but we always stop and make sure. We both understand how important it is to use them now that I am off birth control, so we are always making sure we have them available. So far, so good. We have been using this method for 2 years and no scares!

This.
The way my MD explained it is that there is a SLIGHT chance that the IUD can cause an infection ... (which you could get with OR without the IUD)and if you GOT an infection.... there's a slight chance of infertility IF the infection is left untreated.
I DID have to fight for my IUD. I called my insurance and they covered it. It would have just cost my $50 copay. My dr was hesitant but due to the gastric bypass the efficacy of the pill hasn't really been proven since I don't absorb everything I intake... so I told him this was really my only option seeing as I've already been on every BC ever.
I LOVE my IUD and I am pretty in tune with my body so if I feel like something is up... I see my DR. That has only happened once and everything was fine.

Birth control?
I have pcos as well I had irregular periods and painful cysts they just stuck me on the pill at 15 to help with that but didn't actually diagnose me with pcos until last yr. I decided to come off the pill after being on it for over 12 years and having to switch bc a lot cause of side effects or irregular bleeding. I didn't get a perioed for a while so had to medically induce one with a pill. After that I started to get them but very irratically and irregular. I was taking metformin it didn't do anything for me. October we went away on vacation and I was not stressed for the first time in a long time and after we came back my periods were almost that of a normal one. It just went back to freaking out again cause of stress. I have done a ton of research on PCOS and for me I feel bc helps cause more issues with the pcos so I don't plan on going back on bc ever again. We just use condoms. Plus it is better odds for us if I stay away from bc to get pregnant after the wedding cause I don't have to wait months for the bc to work out the system fully and try to regulate. I would definitely look into a more affordable none hormonal method since you have pcos. I have heard a lot of negative things about some iud and it's a lot of money for a very unsure bc.I'm really shocked how many of you also have pcos.

Were you taking Metformin to regulate your hormones too?

I had the iud before, u dont have to have children first.I dont know why u were quoted so much for the iud. I was told $500 when I didn't have health insurance. Plus I thought under Obama's plan even religious institutions had to give the options for birth control.
If u have any other questions feel free to FM me.
