Birth Control Pill Question.

Re: Birth Control Pill Question.

Skipping the white pills will work, however, you may have some very light spotting for a day so still have on a panty liner. I have skipped the white pills before and it was fine. Basically it is the same idea as that new seasonal pill (not sure if spelt right). Its safe to do once in awhile. But if you are really concerned def talk to a doctor about it again, or call planned parenthood- they answer any question over the phone.

I was freaking out at one point too because I had miscalculated my schedule as well and thought that I would be having my period for my wedding and honeymoon so I started doing some diligent research and I came across these really helpful websites. HTH

www.noperiod.com
This site allowed me to track my period more accurately and I found out that I would in fact be off of my period by the day before the wedding which was great news because I did not like the idea of having to go on BC Pills to stop Aunt Flow.

http://thewelltimedperiod.blogspot.com/2005/01/skip-period-regimens.html
This site has more information about using BC Pills to stop skip your period.

www.mymonthlycycles.com
This site also allows you to track your period. It will detail when you are ovulating and when you are menstruating. It provided me with a period schedule calendar for the whole year so I will know when exactly when Aunt Flow is scheduled for a visit.

I am also in the same boat! My period is not regular, so there was not a right way to calculate it

I do not want to have my period on my weddung day!!!!!!!!

What pills r u taking? Which ones are causing less weight gain/side effects? Any comments on yasmin?

Thanks

i was on yasmin and think it gave me cellulite, but the doctor told me it didn't, that I am getting older and thats why I got it. I have been off of it sonce July and still have the cellulite so she may have been right- i just refuse to believe Im getting older. :) I didn't really gain weight or anything using it and sometimes befire my period I get a couple of breakouts and on yasmin i never did.

I'm ortho tri-cyclen for about 5 years now and i have skipped before. I didn't have any spotting and felt fine. Just make sure you skip it a couple of months before your wedding and not that month. i'm doing the same thing for my wedding. I'm getting married next year and i'm actually thinking about skipping it over the summer.

I've done this twice. The first time something went wrong and I got my period twice in one month and the second time worked.

Ah great. I wonder if I have time to test it and try it for next month. I know it takes a while to actually get into your syste, and get you on a good cycle. I am only starting it this Sunday for the first time

Wait - I don't get it

I got my period for the week I was supposed to last month then instead of starting the pill on Sunday when I normally do I just didn't take it for the week and then started the Sunday after. Now I'm back on track and getting my period one week later then I used to get it. Hope that makes sense b/c now it works out for the wedding and honeymoon.

I would not recommend this - you put yourself at risk of getting pregnant. You never want to not have taken pills for more than 7 days because your body's natural cycle starts to kick back in and you might ovulate.

It's fine to start the next pack earlier than you normally would, but you never want to start it later.

I think that it is fine. I've done it with my doctor's blessing and it works. I did it last JUly to go on vacation and did not spot until the following month. I plan on doing it for my wedding.

exactly when Aunt Flow is scheduled for a visit.

I just used this site, very cool. Since I am on the pill I figure it is very accruate. According to the site, my period will end about a week before my wedding and start again 1 week after my honeymoon is over! Perfect! I am still going to check with my doctor just in case...Thanks for all the info!

I've been on Yasmin for about 7 years and I love it! It's amazing! No side effects what-so-ever. I have always had a long period (one week) so it didn't help any with that, but I didn't gain weight, or break out or anything.

Also- thats a great idea that everyone has of putting it off a week! Do you think it messes with the pills ability though, stopping taking it for an extra week? I just dont want a mini me because I am messing with my pill to postpone my period.

And why does everyone have it for their wedding!?? Out of every week to get it that month- we have all figured out that it will be THAT week! Why!????

Yes it works...I did it and I got married 7/16/06 NOW is more than enough time...I was trying this in May...it was HELL! Especially during fittings...would not recommend. Just to let you know you may feel like a bloated mess for a month but it will pass

Re: Birth Control Pill Question.

I did something similar with Yasmine. Basically, yes, my wedding was in July and we started it in May.....because I always get my period around the 4th....so obviously if my weding wss the 7th noooo way!!!!!!!! It worked out fine, and between throwing away [the kast week i think] in may and starting a fresh pack in June...whatever it did...it pushes it back 2 weeks...so I didnt get it until like almost the 20th of july, as soon as I got back from my hm. Dont worry you're DR knows what she's doing! :o) It'll be ok!

Omg, u dont have side effects? Im on yasmine too, and I'm like a real b*tch sometimes, and i find it impossible to lose weight, and in fact its made me gain weight...and my periods are never regular and it makes me vomit every once in a while!

OK - I am glad this came up.
I am getting married on 3/24, but not going on my honeymoon until the following week (so I do not want to get my period either week).

Soooooo...if I take this month like normal, and then skip the sugar pills the next month, then I won't get my period until the end of that pack, right??

I am so confused!

As I said above, if you don't take pills for more than 7 days you can get pregnant. It is fine to skip the placebo week and start your next pack.

Those that said their doctor recommended 'it' I think (hope) were referring to starting the next pack early.

People should check with their doctors if they don't understand, some of the advice on here isn't clear.

It works . . . I did it once before. I will also get my period during the honeymoon so I was thinking about skipping my period this month to ensure I do not have it for the wedding. Plus then I will not have to worry about spotting come beach season.

Re: Birth Control Pill Question.

I don't know if that works...but I was on bc for almost 5 years. I started w/ pills, then eventually w/ the patch, now nothing! I can only tell you that even w/ bc, my periods did not come exactly when I calculated. Sometimes a few days later. I do remember when I used the patch, if I didn't want my period, I would wear the patch consistently for 6 weeks... I guess it's the same for the pills, don't take the placebo, just double up. Good luck! I feel like I'm just gambling w/ my body....all I know I'm scheduled to have it a few days prior to my wedding date, let's hope my cycle stays that way!
