I used to be really interested in birth order, mainly because I felt that my brothers and I showed a lot of the qualities of people in our respective birth orders. Something else that also interested me was the fact that we tend to marry people in opposing orders because they tend to complement each other more. And when I thought about it, I realized that many family and friends married someone from a different order.
So...where do you and your SO fall in terms of birth order? Do you think that there is anything to that idea?

I'm the youngest & DH is an only. My parents are both the oldest. DH's parents & oldest & middle.

I agree with you! My brother is the oldest, my SIL is the youngest! She said sometimes her friends will think he is being bossy and not asking her opinion! But she said as the youngest often times you dont get a choice about what movie to see because you just follow the older kids! So when he makes these types of decisions its really because she is so flexible!
My DH and I are both the youngest which creates great decision making problems! Whether its where to go to eat, or what color to paint a room! Generally neither of us has really strong opinions about things like that so its a big pain!

Something weird: My mom is also the oldest and my father was the youngest and a twin!!!! And they day they started dating was the same as Ray and I (april 5) they are divorced now though!

BUT HERE IS AN INTERESTING THING:
DO you count ALL the siblings? My DH's father was remarried and now has a half brother and sister?

DH: Middle of 3. One older sister, one younger sister.

Both of us have older brothers, Mine: 5 years older. His: 7 years older.
We both act like the youngers and behave playfully and are fun loving and sometimes we can't make decisions, but I think we have come into our own a lot these past few years as a couple.
My mom is the oldest and my dad an only
I think both of my inlaws were the youngest.

Me: youngest of 2 DH: grew up in his home as oldest of 3, but has a much older sister, so I think he considers himself oldest of 3

That's interesting. I'm not an expert but I guess it would depend on how old your DH was when they were born. At some point our personalities really take shape so there would be less influence. I used to date someone who was the youngest of 4, but the first three were a year or so apart each and he was ten years younger than the yougest. He was more like an only child and the brother who had been the youngest for ten years stayed more like a youngest- outgoing, more attention seeking (which is a trait of 'babies')
My middle brother was such a middle child- he really acted out for a while because he felt like he was shafted a lot. He was always in trouble. We are two years apart. But when I left for college he became more responsible, I guess because I wasn't around he liked having more attention and sort of became the 'oldest boy' instead of the 'middle child'.
