I used to be really interested in birth order, mainly because I felt that my brothers and I showed a lot of the qualities of people in our respective birth orders. Something else that also interested me was the fact that we tend to marry people in opposing orders because they tend to complement each other more. And when I thought about it, I realized that many family and friends married someone from a different order.
So...where do you and your SO fall in terms of birth order? Do you think that there is anything to that idea?

Re: Birth Order and your Significant Other
I am the oldest and DH is the youngest, so we are an opposing order. It is pretty interesting to think about!!

Re: Birth Order and your Significant Other
We're both the youngest. Sometimes we have decision making difficulties b/c we're both pretty easy going (well, he's REALLY laid-back and I'm somewhat laid-back when it comes to things I don't feel are important-like what to eat or what movie to see).

Re: Birth Order and your Significant Other
Dh and I are both middles.
I am the middle out of 3 kids (older sister, younger brother) and he's the 3rd born out of 4 so shares the middle spot with his sister (2 older sisters, 1 younger brother).

Makes sense. We're both the youngest of 2 and we're so laid back its a miracle when we get anything done around here. But we always have a good time with each other.

DH and I are both oldest and we are sooooo not laid back..hehe..everything has a plan and a timeline..both sets of parents are not the oldest, so tons of the time we can't handle their carefree attitudes

Re: Birth Order and your Significant Other
I am the baby of the family and DH is the oldest. We definitely have our roles. He is very reliable, responsible, etc.. While I am a responsible person, I certainly forget that he is not there to pick up after me. I am working on it though.

I read an interesting book on sibling rivalry a few years ago and 1 thing really struck me. It mentions the correlation between parent and their child of the same birth order.
EX. My mother and sister are both the youngest. Maybe that's why my mom sided/sympathized w/my sister when we were younger, like making me take her everywhere I went w/my friends, cause she went thru the same thing w/my aunt.
It really taught me the whole new way of looking at that dynamic.
