Bittersweet Day

So far (of what I know) 8 people were laid off today at my job.

Thankfully I was not one of them. But I have been crying all day!

Oh I just love America!!

Yay, it wasn't you!

So sad for everyone else.. being laid off was a horrible experience for me, so demoralizing... but a much better opportunity came to me... so it ended up being a really. good. thing.

When one door closes another window opens and all that.

Supposedly this was the only day. I am sure they will reevaluate in a few months

This happened at my job a few weeks ago. We have several offices here in NY and they let go a total of 12 employees. So 1 or 2 people from each office were given the boot.

They told us it's the end of 'lay-offs' but who really knows.

All I know is that some people are now stuck picking up the slack and were given more work without any more in pay

wow, that is a lot for one day. thank goodness it wasn't you . Hopefully you'll be able to relax a little bit tonight and clear your mind.

that really stinks, i'm sorry, but glad to hear that it was not you and keeping fingers crossed for you.

I understand what you are going through, we keep eliminating jobs, but then they are still hiring for others-just don't understand

well i heard it was 12 or 13 people but i only know of 8 so who knows.

glad your position wasn't eliminated. We had to lay off 5 employees here a few weeks ago. It ****** because i work in HR and i was preparing their termination information like, processing their last payroll payments/severances before they were let go so i knew it was coming i just hope business doesn't get any worse!

wow! thank god it didn't happen to u! fh is scared cuz they laid off 11 or 12 people and now they are down to 3 in the office plus the manager. i guess that's what happens when you work for a bank in this economy.
