I'm having a formal outdoor ceremony in June and I like the idea of black dresses with celery or sage green sashes. I really want my wedding to have an elegant and timeless feel to it so when we show our pictures to our kids they don't say 'what were you thinking'?!?
Do you think the color scheme would be springy and elegant or morbid and drab?
What is your opinion on black dresses for BMs in general?
Has anyone done this scheme before? If so can you post pics?

I think you can use black any time! I am getting married in August and my girls are wearing black with a white sash. We didn't pick dresses yet but those are the colors

I wanted to do black sooooo bad witha watermelon(or somthing like that) sash!! but everyone(mom and BMs and MOH) all told me that you can wear black to a wedding!! thas an old fashioned thought, right?
I would never choose black for myself but if it's something you like I say go for it!

I love the fact that you're adding a splash of a lighter color. IMO the black with the colored sash is always elegant.

We used black for my july wedding...we could not have been happier witht he way it looked! I don't htink its drab at all..especially if you are adding a color...I think black is classic and timeless! I didn't want to chose a color that i was going to hate seeing in my pictures 5 years from now...I have to upload a better picture of the bridal party..btu you can get an idea from this!

I did!! I got married in april and had another ceremony in June and my colors were black and clover green (also with ivory). The black and green go great together
