Black Bridesmaid dresses

Dear all,
I have fallen behind on all my plans and it's crunch time. my wedding is april 25. I have a very big dillemma...the dress I chose for my bridesmaids looks incredible in black. there is no other color that tickles my fancy for this specific dress style as much as the black does. What are your opinions on bridesmaids wearing all black? my mother is not happy AT ALL with this idea. We are Greek Orthodox and my mother said it will look like we are going to a funeral rather than a wedding. Can someone please send me some comments about the black bridesmaids dresses? On the same note...if i were to go ahead with the black dresses regardless of everyone's feelings i was also thinking of making the entire event black tie. please send me your views on this as well, no matter how harsh.
the other colors i was thinking of doing are beige (very light beige, almost cream), pale blue, or pale pink. you see, all these other colors may not photograph nicely, nore may they be in season or as happy go lucky as bright colors. should i pick a color that will be in season and cheery even if the dress itself doesnt look great in that color?

I absolutely love the black dresses and dont think theres anything wrong with having your BM's wear black. Its always in style and looks great on everyone. I also dont think you have to make it black tie but if you want to go for it but I dont think its necessary. My mom is wearing a black gown to my wedding and its absolutely beautiful and looks gorgeous on her! But this is JMO

That's a major factor in why i would chose the black too, the fact the girls can wear it over again to another function and will always be in style! no need to let that money go to waste, right?

Exactly!! I cant tell you how many BM dresses I still have! Why? who knows I'll never wear them again, but that dress in black definitely!

Is your RH very very fancy? If it is, then i say go for it. Otherwise, that black dress seems a little severe for a spring wedding. I would pick a happier color or a different dress.

The RH is the Fountainhead in new rochelle. It is very elegant.

In your opinion what happy color would make this dress look pretty? there are many colors i can choose from but i would like to hear what color you would think this dress will look nice in.

My daughter used black in her bridal party and it looked great - checkout 040508bride review - I'm sure there are pictures of the bridal party.

i think the black looked great on everyone at your daughters wedding. It was her choice to pick black because in my opinion her dress would have looked great in any color imaginable. my problem is this dress really doesnt look good in spring colors because it can never be worn in those colors ever again.

Im doing black and my wedding is one day before yours! Im doing a black and white theme, so the BM bok's are all white with hints of black.
The dresses are Melissa Sweet and the girls look drop dead gorgeous in them! I think black is super elegant and classy, and you just cant go wrong with it.

THANK YOU...I FORGOT I EVEN POSTED PICS! Im not on here often but when i need the trusty liwedding girls, this is the first place i run.
I seriously like the champagne color you mentioned. it gives the girls the greek goddess look, it matches with my RH, and they can pull off that color at another function due to the nature of the look they will be carrying. How do you think it will look in pics? or how about against my own dress? many people tell me they will drown me out but i seriously dont think so. there is only one bride.
