seems a little odd to me. what do you write the addresses in? white ink? doesnt seem to wedding-y in my opinion but if you like it then who cares go for it!

well the invitation itself is black and pewter so we'd probably address the invites in silver

I would do it. If it matches your theme or your personality I think that gives it even more reason to go ahead with it.

I had black invites and white envelopes. If you want to do the black and can address them in a different color then go for it!

I think using a different color other than the traditional white is cool. It's different and unexpected

Wow that's a really pretty black envelope.
My FSIL sent out her baby shower thank yous in black envelopes and I thought that was odd for a BABY shower, since everything should be bright and happy lol. And it was written in white ink, so that looked odd to me, but she's an artist so perhaps it looks right to her. But that picture from previous poster is really pretty.

I think that you should do what ever you want. If you like the black envelopes then you should def. do them.

Re: black envelopes?
Not sure if this is a concern, but if your envelope is black how does the post office stamp the envelopes? They need to be able to scan their stamp to send the envelopes to the correct destination.

Re: black envelopes?
Mine are black and it is gorgeous but we have an icing liner around it so that is where we are putting our guest's names. I say go for it!
